Dallas itself is half the size of Houston. I can't argue with the fact that South Dallas is unsafe. I think it's number 1 when it comes to crime. I play golf close to the Cotton Bowl and I am scared to death every time I drive around that area. But every city has it's ghetto, unfortunately for Houston it's all over the city. You can have a nice area such as Bunker Hill, but right when you cross 1-10 and go down Gessner, you're in the ghetto. And there's nothing you can do to avoid it. However, once you go north of Dallas and keep on going, you've got nothing to worry about. I feel a lot safer in Dallas than I do in Houston even with all these statistics.

Traffic is pretty brutal, yes, but for anyone living in Dallas it's really not that bad at all. If you saw my post in the "gas prices is going up" thread you would have noticed that I don't have to leave Park Cities for anything. Midtown, Downtown, Northpark Mall, Central Market, Greenville are all within minutes of me..I'm pretty much set right here. I fill up my tank once a month and that's it. Once in a while when I have had enough and can't take anymore of this lifestyle, I'll go out to the suburbs like Plano or Frisco. If you are on 75 and you cross 635, you are already out of the city. Whereas in Houston, you can go all the way from downtown, past 610, past Beltway 8, past highway 6 all the way to Fry Road, and you'll still be stuck in Houston. It's just ridiculous how big and unnecessary the city is. Now if you live in Frisco and have to travel to downtown then maybe you have a point. But that's not Dallas. The only city that is considered Dallas in the 12-county Dallas-Forth Worth metroplex is Dallas. I'm not trying to be funny but I don't see how such an easy point is so hard to get across to you guys. Like that one guy who lives all the way up in Denton and said he hates living in Dallas. That's just plain dumb and I hate it when people do that. That's not even close to being Dallas. It's just like saying you live in Baytown and think living in Houston sucks. Do you see what I'm saying?

As for me, I live on 75 and Mockingbird right next to your "snobs." Once you get used to them they aren't that bad at all. I'd rather be here than any area in Houston. With that being said, if I ever have to move out of Highland Park/University Park, then I'll come straight to Houston. Besides, I don't see anything wrong with everyone driving a nice car and treating their inferiors living in the same area as them like dirt. Are you telling me people in River Oaks don't do the same thing?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Texans fan and HATE the Cowboys, but don't you think winning a Super Bowl is more prestigious than winning an NBA championship. If that's the case, then Dallas will come straight back and say they have won 5 Super Bowls and 10 Conference Championship games.

    I'm just saying....

They should look at the biggest cities in Texas and see who's sitting at number 3.

Someone here has redefined themselves in a negative light.

I don't care who you are or where you are, if I say I live in Plano people say, "Oh, Dallas, huh?"

They assume I'm a Dallas snob... and I grew up watching KPRC, KHOU, and Marvin Zindler.

Foosball? Since when the heck do you compare basketball to foosball?

    you're saying it wrong.

its plain and simple...until the mavs have accomplished something close to what we have there is no argument.

Dude, I'm sure you fit right in.

It's obvious from your posts that you've all but jumped on the Mavericks bandwagon and are just keeping a toe in the Rockets camp on the off chance they go far in the playoffs. Why don't you just sack up and go all they way.

Not really. I lived in Sugar Land before I moved up here, it is one of the richer area in Texas, yet I never felt out of place. The same can't be said about Plano or SMU area.

No, I am just saying that when you tell a Mavs fan about the Rockets success over Mavs (saying that we have 2 rings and you have none) they will come right back and say who cares? We have 5 NFL Super Bowl championships and you have none.

It makes perfect sense to me. They do it all the time. Have you ever been to a Mavs game in Dallas. You tell them that and they say oh go worry about your Texans.

Oh, I'm sorry I didn't know clutchfans was solely a basketball forum... wait a second, there is an Astros/Texans/Comets section....OMG!!! What do you know, all Houston teams...

I enjoy the lifestyle of making 32,000 a year.

I like to live in a 400 sq foot apartment that cost me 1,600 a month to pay.

I like having this leased BMW.

I like these clothes that cost me an arm.
    and a leg.

I like going to the Mavericks game.
because that is the place to be, and be seen.
