the mavs fans are upset simply because they don't have any rings. they're not clutch like we are, lol. there's a reason we're called clutch city. we defeated the odds and won it all as a 6th seed. on the other hand, their star player bricks a free throw that leads to their demise.
Clutchfans has a lot of homers now.. but that's only because the membership has grown SO much. The bigger your population, the more you're bound to have of every type of poster. There are more than enough posters that are knowledgable, respected, and intelligently speak about a lot of different things. We could lose to SA in a tough 7 game series, and I would never come out hating that team. I don't think I really like anyone on their team except for Duncan...but I still can't dislike the team like I dislike Dallas. Dallas, as a team, gives off the brash, cocky attitude. And it starts at the top with Cuban...and at the top of the players with Dirk. The most important people are the identity/face of a team. Their personality has been set. I'm more a fan of the Duncans/Yaos of the game that are just gonna play the game and will let their game do the talking.
For the record the top 3 hated people in the NBA. Dirk Cuban Manu I like the spurs a little. I mean they had Elie and have Horry. Manu holds my hate, lots of it.
Damn straight. In my neighborhood, we learned to hate Dallas from our mother's milk, and it was because of this attitude of Little D, which always looked down on H-town with this snooty, "we're better than you because... well, because WE ARE! So there! (sniff, sniff)" I have no doubt that it was going on in the Jurassic Age.
I think you should dislike the Mavs, as for them being our rivals and them beating us in the first round and the refs. But guys "my blood is boiling!" is a little too far. Don't give Rockets fans a bad image. Yeah i hate the Mavericks and Dirk, but some people take it a little too far.
Exactly. The Rockets that year beat the Barkley/KJ Suns team, the Malone/Stockton Jazz team, and then the Ewing-led Knicks team in the playoffs. I'm not sure the Mavs can boost that kind of resume this year with the Rockets, Spurs/Suns, and then whatever scrub comes out of the East. Basically, they have to win pretty convincingly in the playoffs to even make an argument.
That was cold and cruel. But necessary. If you're not a homer, hell you might as well not be a fan. What kind of a fan are you when you cheer the Rockets on, yet regard Dirk as like the savior of the league?
I never hated anything Dallas...until I moved up here and realized just how much they hate EVERYTHING Houston. Then they qualify their hate with false assumptions about Houston like: (the 2 main complaints that I hear) Houston traffic is horrible Actually, the average person in Dallas spends an average of 2 more minutes a year in traffic than a Houstonian. Houston is Dangerous and Crime Ridden Actually, Houston had a LOWER crime rate than Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Arlington (until Hurricane Katrina...but it will go back down again) After living here for a few years, I can't stand the pompous pretentious attitude that people in Dallas have towards anyone else. I've heard racial and offensive comments on the radio that I NEVER heard growing up in Houston. On the flip side...people in Ft. Worth are pretty nice. Thats why I live here now. The less I go east of HWY 360, the happier I am. I don't hate San Antonio...I like the city a lot, and the team has always been classy..it wasn't Robinson's fault he was named League MVP over Hakeem, and Duncan's a player who can be looked up to. Even when (what few there were at the time) Dallas fans were cursing the Mavericks for drafting that "no-name kid" from Germany, I thought they needed to give the kid some time before rushing to judgement...Now those same fans love Nowitzki. Yes..I like Nowitzki, he's a classy guy (like Duncan)..but the rest of the Mavericks like Stackhouse, Dampier(self-proclaimed best center in the west)..etc...they're just a bunch of thugs and jerks. Avery just compounds it with his temper tantrums...anyone remember when the ROX Assistant Coaches had to physically Hold Johnson back from Charging the Refs after one game...then two games later he was playing hypocrite by saying that people shouldn't complain about the refs... Add these three player/coaches to the fact that People in Dallas talk sooo much crap about Houston..that is what has made me Hate the Mavs. The only other team I've ever Hated was the Jazz (not anymore) and that was because of Malone and Stockton..now that they're gone..I could care less about them.
Exactly! They always complaint about Houston traffic, yet they have spend hours each day on 635 and 75. And crime? South Dallas is notorious, even at the national level. The thing I hate the most about Dallas is their attitude. I guess living in Houston and surrounded by nice Houstonians for years really spoiled me, now I can't stand the snobby Dallas people. When they define the word "snob", they should have a map of Dallas beside it. The area around SMU is the worst. You can't get a burger there if you don't drive a BMW.
