Dampier could be the second best center in the west if he wasn't slow and uncoordinated, played a marginal amount of defense, had any semblence of a post up game, and could shoot a jumper...other than that, he's about as good as it gets...

up until the playoffs this year I thought I liked Nowitzki. He looks great if most of what you see from him is on ESPN highlight tape or occasionally watching a game. But he is not a winner -- he has no heart --- he doesn't show up in big games -- and now he is attacking his own teammates in the middle of the 2nd round of the playoffs ------ Pathetic
If Dirk would play center, he'd get just as many or more fouls than Dampier would, even with star treatment. Center defense isn't as easy as some may think. Ask Yao. He's the last line of defense, and takes the task of having to potentially challenge any player on the court.
