    Mavs after Al Harrington

    @STEIN_LINE_HQ

    Sources say Mavs now trying to sign Al Harrington w/mid-level exception. Harrington, not Shaquille O'Neal, is their No. 1 MLE target

    God dammit, they already picked up Tyson Chandler. Mavericks are stacked now. Whatever, Al is a blackhole on offense and the Mavericks will still get no where.

    Why are they getting Harrington when Dirk plays the 4, and Butler plays the 3?

    AH is going to be an expensive backup.

    Where do the mavs get all of this money from to sign all of the good players,

    Why can't the rockets ever spend money like they do

    P.S Morey has been very disapointing this offseason

    Who exactly do you suggest we sign that would help this team? Honestly, you don't just throw money to throw away either. This move really doesn't help Dallas all that much. Al Harrington is good at one thing only and that is scoring. He doesn't really like sharing the ball either. This move makes absolutely no sense.

    Al Harrington plays hard though, you have to give him that. I think he is a great bench scorer that will really help them during dry spells. I like his effort every night. yes he has been overpaid in the past, but you know he will come in and put up points and grab boards for you. i like the move.

    To go along with that line, I would observe that Knicks fans HATE this guy. Hate hate hate hate him him because according to them he's a useless black hole on offense who plays zero defense. Now maybe he can get away from D'Antoni and improve, but he is not someone whom I would welcome on the Rockets.

    butler plays the 2, marion the three, but i agree...just throwing money out there at any solid talent....but cuban has always been like that and like always, it doesnt work.

    Rockets fans should be happy that Cuban is going to tie up their MLE and future assets for players like Harrington. Going after every free agent that is out there will get you in the luxury tax quickly and hurt your flexibility. Chandler and Harrington make them bigger and more experienced, but not necessarily better. They will be big and deep, but still very easily beatable on any given night and in a seven game series.

    Go for it Dallas. They're pretty much building a slightly deeper version of the team that hasn't been able to get it done the past few years. If they didn't have Roddy, I wouldn't have any faith that they can get better.

    Trading Damp for Chandler and adding Harrington to be your 4th string forward (behind Dirk, Butler, and Marion) is shuffling deck chairs as far as I'm concerned.

    Al Harrington is basically the definition of a ball stopper. The Mavs can have him, he really won't make them better.
