Ditto. It's really not even close. The Mavs, Suns, and Spurs are in a league by themselves...everyone else is playing for fourth place. It's depressing, because it lets you know just how far the Rockets still have to go in terms of shoring up their roster with the necessary talent/depth to compete with these teams in the playoffs and not have to sink or swim with their two young stars.
Sounds like they will. http://www.floridatoday.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070307/SPORTS/703070361/1002/SPORTS
Anyone else see Mark Cuban push away the camera like he just lost another Benefactor tv show? I got a kick out of that
What a great game. Rox are nowhere near that level right now. And yeah, Nash is sick. 3 MVPs in a row would be huge, but man, he does deserve it.
Don't count the Heats out. I learned my lessons last year. They have a much easier road to the finals. And they have Shaq and Wade which, IMO, is still the most dangrous combo in the league (Of course I am assuming Wade will be back and plays close to 80%- 90%). Shaq is one of the smartest player in the league, he simply knows how to get the win. And Wade just gets calls like no other, it is key in the playoffs. Rox win a championship this year? You can forget about it. To reach Finals, they have to beat Utah first, and then they have to beat two of the big 3 in the West, and worse, they have to play all these series without homecourt. It not gonna happen.
That was a classic game, one of the best I have seen. Reminds of the Lakers vs. Celtics games. The Suns and Mavs are playing at a very high level. Nobody in the East can even touch them. And the Spurs haven't lost since the break. The Rockets must get on a real hot streak to compete.
ok, if it is about semantics, here it goes. dirk goes to the FT, Mavs are up 7 or 8. He makes one out of 2. Josh Howard goes up to the ft line next, makes one of two. dirk gets foulded again, this time mavs lead by 2. Makes one of two. so TECHNICALLY, ONE of the missed FT was not SO CLOSE to the end of regulation. NEVERTHELESS, DIRK missed two FTs on his last 2, or however you count it, 4 last FT attempts. got it?
Not really. Dirk didn't miss two free throws at the end of regulation like your original post claimed. He did miss more free throws in this game than most however.
if we are able to get by the jazz in the first round we would match up with the #1 seed which currently is dallas. if the suns catch and pass dallas we play the suns. Currently rule of thinking around here is that the rockets match up a lot better than the mavs and have a better chance of moving on if they play the mavs in the second round rather than the suns (though i dont know if they can beat either team right now in a 7 game)
It really matters little, because we would lose handily to either team. However, I think we can make it a much more competitive series against the Mavericks. But we don't and won't matchup against the Suns.
this will be a crazy playoff year. suns aren't an absolute lock to get to the wcf if they have to play the spurs, i can see the spurs slowing them down. rox have a better chance against spurs and mavs, but it is a big hill to climb like you say
whoever in the Rockets organization thought we could "win now" was out of there f'ing mind, there is no way with way play right now that we could beat either of those teams in the series. We need to change our whole gameplan to even make a series with one those two competitive.
steve nash is clearly the mvp again. he has now beaten dallas 1 out of 3 times so he's got that, and i'm willing to throw dallas' historic season out of the window at this point and focus on one game. you just can't deny it. his flashiness just adds so much value as well (that's why stockton could never compare, reading defenses and actually playing a little of your own isn't good enough) that you have to give it to him. michael jordan would've cried if he ever had to face this guy b/c he would've known the trophy could never be his. anyway... how is it that teams i hate somehow have the most miraculous comebacks and whoever i'm rooting for (except vince young) is never clutch? all dallas has to do is make more than 3 out of 6 ft's at the end (good job dirk) or not foul nash twice stupidly for 5 free points, or grab a rebound (friggin' marion is always just everywhere). but no. in a vacuum, dallas is a team that never loses and is up 7 with one minute to go so they should win, but since i want the suns to lose, the miracle happens. that last minute was like water torture watching all the little mistakes the mavs kept making. it's almost like they would've been better off being up 3 instead of 7 b/c then you wouldn't play not to lose so much. and as much as dirk didn't seem to wanna shoot in OT, why was nash shooting so little as well (and even missed that jumper to put it away in double OT)? he kept getting iso'd on dirk and others and i was just expecting an easy jumper and then he'd just throw it to someone else. of course with amare torching everyone down low maybe that was a good idea (how do you guard this guy?). and i wanted that last jumper by dirk to go in just to see triple OT, no matter who won, and to see just how many OT's we could squeeze out of this game. as someone else pointed out, we need dallas to stay #1 b/c we don't want any part of phoenix's style if we get out of the first round. and a shout out to time warner for me not having internet or cable all day and only seeing the 4th quarter and beyond b/c i finally gave up and just went to a bar to watch it. and then the cable coming on right after i get home.
