The crazy part is that there are two teams in Texas that are capable of beating them now.

on another note, the spurs fans seem to be very articulate and fair when assessing other teams aquisitions. I went to read their forums, they are good at pointing out our strengths and weaknesses. It just seems the complete opposite after reading what the mavs forums had to say haha.

Hillarious. They are saying that because Dirk lit up Memphis last year that Battier can't guard him and that Battier threw that 50 points up against us when McGrady was guarding him and that he had the flu during the playoffs when McGrady was guarding him and causing him trouble.

I hope they keep eating that stuff up.

    Yao >>>> Dampier and/or whoever
    McGrady >>>>> Howard
    Battier <<<< Dirk
    Bonzi >>>>>> Stackhouse
    Rafer <<<<< Terry
    Snyder >>>>> Greg Buckner
Head <<<<< Devin Harris (I'll give them this matchup)
    Juwan ======= Croshere (that's a wash)
Kill Bill ~~~~~Anthony Johnson (Johnson with the experience edge)

The rest of their roster is garbage, just a bunch of fouls to use on 111 and Bonzi.

Dirk has a problem and that is that he is not a true low post player. Miami showed how to defend him. You simply take away the jumper and force him to put the ball on the floor. Then as soon as he starts the dribble bring the double to make him pick up the dribble and pass it. Dirk is an outside to inside player and he is quick for a big man but he is average quick for a smaller man. He can't consistently get to the hole driving against smaller, faster, quicker defenders. So, his next choice is he has to go down to the blocks and post up and that is when he becomes a mediocre player. He is very average as a post up offensive player. With TMac and Battier on the floor against Dirk, he is going to have a tough time against us. They are going to have to attack with other guys, primarily Terry and Stack posting up on the guards or by going even smaller with Terry and Harris in the backcourt, which does created quickness advantages for them on the offensive end. But defensively, they would get killed by bigger guards/small forwards with post up ability. Can you imagine Terry, Harris, and either Howard or Stack attempting to guard Rafer, Bonzi, and McGrady???? They get taken to the cleaners. Gonna bring Dirk to help??? Battier is standing at the 3 point line with the bomb. Not gonna help Damp on Yao??? You fouls him out of the game in 12 minutes.

Dallas is going to have trouble guarding us with their best defenders on the floor.

And what's more is we are setting below the luxury tax with still a trade exception and the possibility of making more moves.

Pretty nice thinking of this Mavs-fan  :

If houston gets him, they would be better off going after reggie evans or someone like that though im not a big evans fan and then convincing tmac to be a distributor and not a scorer. Turn him back into Raptor tmac on defense. It would take alot to get him to buy in but if he did, that team would scare the hell out of me...

    Tmac
    Wells
    Battier
    Evans
    Ming

Let Yao carry the scoring until tmac takes over later(much like the lakers with kobe and shaq) and let tmac play pg while turning him back into the great defender he is quite capable of being. THAT would scare the crap out of me. Rolling with Rafer, Tmac, Battier, Wells, Ming? Not so much...

Well, well, well! If it isn't the choke city has something to look up on their shoulder. Without a doubt, they'll have their competition.

i love how they call us good on paper. those jerkoffs are gonna get LIT this year.

and what boggles my mind is that they "arent scared" of us, yet they claim their dynamic duo is howard and dirk.

ok, and tmac+yao are just a regular duo. haha.

but yeah, that board is like...our bizarro twins or something. too weird.

not to mention, how the hell does someone get 1250 posts and just joined their board in may of 06??! (fluid forty one) good gosh, thats some serious post padding action.

    not to mention this comment:

Guys I'm calling it right now. Even if they are all healthy, the rockets do NOT get out of the first round. Call me crazy if you want but I'll be sure to bump this around playoff time.

Their opinions mean jack-****. Posters on a message board may underestimate the Rockets, but you can bet the Mavs organization won't, or any team they play. So all the trash talking is stupid.

They are defending Western Confernence Champs last year. The Rockets weren't much last year. The Rockets have a lot to prove. Both teams have extremely talented players on their squad. The main difference? Their players have actually played together in games that mean something.

As great as our two rings are, they mean nothing now, unless Dream and cast plan on playing for the Rockets again.

I may seem negative, but I'm just pointing out the obvious.

Do I have high aspirations for our team? You bet your ass I do. I wish we could play the mavs 10 times a season, b/c I think it's going to be a great rivalry for years to come.

This doesn't really bother me at all. I am surprised that some of the posters were actually giving us credit, but I don't mind having everyone else run their mouths about how Bonzi won't help us.

We have a whole season ahead of us to prove that wrong.

We were great on paper last year with Swift and DA added to the 04-05 nucleuos and Yao only getting better and stronger. We know how that turned out.

Don't get me wrong, getting Wells gets us in the ball game with the elites in the NBA on talent and individual match-up problems we cause opponents. But the Mavs and Spurs were hands down the best WC teams last year, and we will have to be healthy AND have good chemistry to beat them. They should be concerned, but let's not pretend we have surpassed them at this point.

Agreed. I had a similar reaction when I saw the thing on ESPN about the 10 worst teams in the NBA, with the Rockets included. "The Rockets aren't one of the 10 worst teams... Oh wait yeah they are. They picked 8th last year."

I can definitely see improvement this year, though.

    I wouldn't mind Aviators, though.

Their posters sounded intelligent, but were definitely homers.

Yes, I agree. Thanks Forenzi. Most of those Dull-Azz fans are in denial.....omg are they 'tarded.

There were a few guys that were keeping it real and getting dogged for it.....................
"I kno most of you think that if he signs with the Rockets its not a big deal...But Umm if Tmac and Yao are healthy with the addition of Battier and Wells i got a feeling that we could be seeing them in the WCF....They got a solid team if this goes through."

"That should be a big uh-oh for the Mavs. Damn, our division is tough."

"I think people forget how dominant Yao and T-Mac are when healthy. If healthy they are by far the most dominant duo in the league. No one even compares"

"uhh what are you talking about? "hasn't proven anything...ever."??? Did you not see him light us up in the playoffs a couple seasons agao and single handely keep the rockets afloat? The man is a superstar when healthy, no way around it. Imagine if he had Yao in his current state, Battier, and Wells a couple seasons ago."

"This just might bring Houston their 3rd ring"

All of these comments were met with..."get a clue, are you on crac, they won't stay healthy or they have not gotten out of 1st round, no chemistry"...blah, blah...

I hope McGrady and Yao keep that chip on their shoulders, because they are going to have to monkey-rape the best teams in the playoffs and advance to a title b4 they get ANY respect.
