Doc, you promised us a cryptic message before the draft. Give us more to uncrypt! Tell us things about Hakeem. Tell us that Walt is gonna be traded. Tell us that Cato is going to be traded. Tell us that Raef Lafrentz is going to be a Rocket. Are you trying to tell us we're playing a game in Italy? Though, if you don't feel like crypting things up, and just want to hand out your info, I won't complain wow barbour, after your comment in Doc's next post he made an edit....he took out his sig. Coincidence? ------------------ "I think alot of people find Cato's game to be very offensive." -aelliott, comparing the offensive skills of Kelvin Cato and Michael Olowokandi [This message has been edited by NIKEstrad (edited June 29, 2001).]
OK what i get from the last post is that DocRocket works for the mafia and is about to get rubbed out. Maybe we should be making Mo and "Offer he can't refuse". "Fredo" some of the excess baggage and "make" some other guys. I also see lots of dunking references in those posts. Didn't Mo dunk all over Bradley this past season? Didn't Bradley play with Vernon "the Informant" Maxwell? Isn't Bradley a FA this offseason? Wouldn't he be a defensive threat in the middle? He is not a superstar but he could be a great role player. Kenny Smith, Max, and Otis never wanted $8/9million a year for 6/7 years. Mo could be a great role player for the Rocks, but you don't pay role players superstar dollars... unless you're Portland. ------------------ First the Sopranos and now Eddie Griffin... thank you New Jersey!
Do you have a quote in which Mo said he wanted 8-9 million per season? There's a big difference between that and about 6 million per season, which is what he would probably sign for. Mo hasn't proven his worth for 8-9 million per season, I agree with you there... but what makes you think he expects that much? ------------------ EDDIE, EDDIE, EDDIE!!! Well do you have a quote that says he wants six million? Who is Taylor's agent? Exactly... the devil himself. Falk will try like hell to max Taylor out. I believe he even said as much prior to Mo leaving the Clippers. I'll see if I can find that quote. ------------------ First the Sopranos and now Eddie Griffin... thank you New Jersey!

I know who his agent is, and I don't have a quote either. Who knows what his agent may ask for from the Rockets-- the bottom line is the Rockets have a good idea of what he's worth, and Falk does too. The Rockets will keep the guy, and they do want to, but the organization is smart enough not to severely overpay. For example, take a look at how cheaply Cuttino came last summer... ------------------ EDDIE, EDDIE, EDDIE!!! Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. You can pull those quotes up if you want to Timing but they have no meaning now because those were made after he left the Clippers and he signed with us. Those were meant for LAST year, and if he wants to still sign for 9 million dollars he wouldn't be interested in signing with the Rockets. Just because he said he wanted 9 million dollars last year doesn't mean he wants 9 million dollars EVERY year, I'm pretty sure he changed his mind and is ready to sign for a reasonable amount now. ------------------ "Win if you can, lose if you must but always cheat!" - Jesse Ventura
I don't care anymore. Sign Mo please. If we sign him on the first day and go ahead and make all of our roster decisions, can we start the season earlier. Dammit!!!! I just want to see our team play. Screw the Rocky Mountaion Review. Tell Cato to have fun and hold his return ticket. He won't put up much resistance. Keep Walt, trade Walt, I don't care. Shandon could be a great back-up SG if he's interested (I don't think he would IMHO). Give Hakeem some cash and promise another bobble-head night. That should keep him happy through the time that we reveal his statue at the new stadium. Let's get this growth process underway. We now have all of the pieces to build a championship contender in the next few years. Why is everyone ready to give the Lakers the championship for the next 10 years. I say Kobe can get used to getting b*tchslapped by Griffin. As for Shaq, if he doesn't start having foot, nack, or knee problems in the next 2 years, I will sign with the Rocket's and donate my 6 fouls/night to stopping him. HE"S NOT INVINCIBLE. Stop the rest of them and you win. We can do it. Let's start tomorrow. Hail Rudy! His drinks are on the house. As for all of you Heyloser's. Your leader admitted defeat. You can lose your name's now or later but we will not forget and you will give it up! ------------------
These are quotes last year from LA Magazine. I find it hard to believe Mo wanted the max then and just all of a sudden doesn't want the max anymore. He sure sounded like he wanted to fit in with LA until they turned his contract request down. The Clippers' star player, Mo Taylor, agreed last spring. "I want to be part of a winner," he declared. "And with me staying here and being committed to that, and they being committed to that, there will be a lot of satisfaction watching everything change." Naturally, there was a catch: Taylor, a potential all-star who's approaching free agency, wanted a six-year, $71 million contract extension--the highest salary available to him under the rules. And Sterling, who has yet to award any player a multiyear contract for more than $12 million, wasn't inclined to give it to him. In August, Taylor's agent, David Falk, told the press that the Clippers would have to sign his client by September 8, 1999, or lose him to free agency next summer. Falk, perhaps the most intimidating agent in the business, traveled to L.A. in September to confront Sterling face to face about the deal, but Sterling declined to meet with Falk at all. After-ward, an angry Falk announced that Taylor would no longer even consider re-signing with the Clippers and whined that Sterling had "stood me up." "His philosophy has always been superstar prices for superstar players, and regular prices for regular players," says Roeser, speaking for the boss. "I think you'd find that if we had a superstar, we would never let him escape." ------------------ First the Sopranos and now Eddie Griffin... thank you New Jersey!
This from 6/30/2000 Sporting News. Maurice Taylor, Clippers: Everyone finally realized 6.5 rebounds is a little light for a power forward, even if he can score. David Falk found no one wants to max him out at $9.5 million, but the Knicks do want Mo. ------------------ First the Sopranos and now Eddie Griffin... thank you New Jersey!
