Dropped the dough on a tempurpedic at gallery furniture 4 years ago and haven't looked back. It was a really great investment especially considering my wife has a slight case of scoliosis and bulging lower disks in her lower back. Chiropractor recommended it and he was correct in his assessment that it would help tremendously.
We bought the memory foam mattress at costco for 600 bucks and have been very happy. The temperpedics were too soft for our taste and this one was a little firmer. I don't feel like I'm sinking into it.
Latex and don't look back. The perfect balance between springs and tempur-pedic ( which feels like you are laying in mud). Not too hard, not too soft. Pricey, but you will love it. Plus, no dust mites ever.
fyi, there's been reports of certain latex beds from the big names that sag in the middle over time, and that the beds aren't 100% latex. Try to read some reviews and check the warranties before buying.
I got a Temperpedic from the Matress Firm Clarence store next to Gallery and got a bid discount. They allow 30 day returns at no cost and send them to the Clearence store so they are marked down ...but they have the same warranty. My wife moves a lot while falling asleep ...and now it doesn't bother me at all anymore. Love it. Most peaceful sleep ever.
fyi, i know nothing about this bed,but yollar.com is offering a deal on intellibed's out of Austin today. Seems like a really good deal. $400 for $1,000 towards one of their beds. https://yollar.com/ http://www.intellibed.com/ i do not sell these mattresses or know anything about them. just pointing it out. i get all my Austin daily discounts through Yipit by the way. If you want to see discount deals but are tired of getting a bazillion of them, yipit is pretty cool - it just summarizes all the daily deal websites out there into one. i don't work for them either... just passing along
Check out this site for full latex or coil spring/latex beds: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/the-best-organic-and-ecofriend-127844 I purchased a non-latex mattress from this place for my daughter. It has held up well. http://www.mygreenmattress.com/view_products/mattress_collection.htm http://www.mygreenmattress.com/about.htm
My major recommendation is to actually go try it out and lay down on it for real. Too many people buy a mattress by laying on it for a few seconds or minutes in a way that they would never lay on it at home. You end up finding out it isn't as comfortable as you thought.
We bought a Tempurpedic and it sleeps hot. I fall asleep in one position and wake up six hours later in the same position hot. I roll over and go back asleep. No BFD. If I had to do it again, I might consider the iComfort. When I bought my son his mattress I checked the iComfort out and think it probably would sleep cooler. BTW Tempurpedic comes in different firmnesses. Some might get a more firm mattress if they get a sleeping in sand feel with the foam.
Good to know. we went and tried out mattresses yesterday after i posted this... we both hated the termpurpedic b/c we like firm mattresses, and we felt like we were slowly sinking into the mattresses. plus the wife had back surgery a few years ago from years of high school and college volleyball play taking a toll on her lower discs. will have to go back and look at firmer versions.
If you pay the "sticker price" on a mattress, you're screwing yourself over in most cases. Mattress salesmen are sometimes worse than car salesmen. lol.
if anyone really wants to do some research visit themattressunderground.com. That site is essential reading for anyone thinking about buying a mattress, imo. I am very glad I found it before shopping. and one more vote for latex.
No, just heard about it on the radio lately. I purchased this a few years ago for my daughter (http://www.mygreenmattress.com/view_products/echomattress.htm). It's a little firm so I added a Natural Latex topper (don't like foam due to the chemical used and being hot). http://www.amazon.com/ErgoSoft-Natu...8&qid=1352221741&sr=1-3&keywords=latex+topper Here is another option from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1X4AJ...W&nodeID=1057792&store=bedbath#wasThisHelpful I also considered this topper, which may be a better choice since you'll have to pay tax through Amazon. http://www.beanproducts.com/mm5/mer...e=001&Product_Code=LT&Category_Code=Furniture
