i'd put them about on par, maybe a slight edge to Romo /c he is a bit more athletic. however, schaub does look really good though. Plus, he hasnt single handedly made a team lose in the playoffs by one of the biggest joke jobs ever
through 3 games last year grossman had 829 passing yards w/ a 65% completion, and 6 td's to go with 3 ints. 2006 romo: 862 yrds and 67% completion. 5 tds and 1 int. romo this year through 3 games: 860 yrds w/ 58% completion. 8 tds and 2 ints. shaub: 688 yrds on 76% completion. 4 tds & 3 ints. and for fun, carr's first 3 games(2002): 331 on 41% completion. 2 tds and 4 ints. and last year: 635 yards on 72% completion. 6 tds and 1 int. all those numbers are on http://www.pro-football-reference.com/
Terry Glenn cost the Cowboys the game, not Romo. Schuab looks ok, nothing special that stands out. But it's only 3 games in.
5 starts is enough for you to know matt schaub will only be good. And 13-14 starts is enough to tell you Romo will be great. Good for you!
Everything Schaub does looks special compared to what we've had to look at the last five years. For example, several times this young season I've seen Schaub step up in a pocket that was moving, but not collapsing. I'm sure it happened, but I'm trying to remember seeing David Carr do that even once--in five years--and I can't. So watching our QB have a clue what to do in an NFL pocket, and complete a pass longer than 5 yards out, has been pretty special. Even it is normal.
I don't know how normal it is these days. I look at guys like Grossman, Alex Smith, Harrington. They look awful, even though they have great arms. I think Harrington got sacked like 6 times a couple weeks ago. I think we're lucky to have Schaub.
which carr did you look up? DAVID carr's first three games last year: 635 yards on 72% completion. 6 tds and 1 int.
Yep. I felt so "vindicated" in my opinion at the time. It took David five long weeks to forcefully and permanently change my mind.
Tony Romo looks erratic. A roller coaster quarterback, with a lot of highs and lows. Matt Schaub seems unflappable... I would rather have Schaub.
This ought to give you a chuckle: On the way home today I heard one of the talking radio heads rank Tony Romo as the 2nd best QB in the NFL - ahead of Manning & Farve and only 2nd to Tom Brady. How's that for hyperbole?
i dislike the cowboys but as a fantasy owner of romo, i very much appreciate what he's done this season. as far as between him and schaub, it's way too early to tell.
Van Gundy: ARG FEAR MY GUNDY-NESS WRATH! V-Span: At least Carr's gone Van Gundy: billy, youre now the full time starter .....ahh i need to eat fasting really depletes my humor bank. lol
Matt Schaub is a nice QB who we can win with and he's gonna take us to the playoffs this year (barring any more injuries). He has a nice arm, he's accurate, he's a good leader, and with some more experience he won't make mistakes like he did on Sunday. I could see him being a 3,800 yd 25td 10int guy for us in the future, which is fine for me. However Tony Romo looks to be pretty darn special. I saw it in his first start last yr vs. Carolina, and you can tell he has worked on his game a lot during the offseason. He is much improved in all areas, and he has made teams and players look stupid this yr. He embarassed Jason Taylor in week 2, faking him out of his cleats and then making a play. Then he lit up one of the best defenses in football on sunday night. And he is doing it with only 2 real weapons to throw to, an aging T.O. and Jason Witten. He is playing very well and right now as far as the best QBs, it is Brady, Manning then Romo right now.
