people get riled up about our offseason moves, claiming this is stupid, that is dumb. yet, when someone signs a big contract, they all **** their pants and don't even realize it's not guaranteed money. so what do they do, go jump off the deep end again.
http://www.houstontexans.com/news/detail.php?PRKey=3371 I don't know if that will work, but there is a press conference starting right now at the Texans' website.
And most likely, the same people b****ing would be b****ing if the Falcons had traded him to another team for the same exact price. They can't win with some people.
Someone please provide a running summary/commentary for those of us unfortunate enough to be nowhere near TV/radio right now (and who don't have RealPlayer).
Yep. -Texans screw up by taking Mario at #1 instead of taking a sure thing (Bush, D'Brick, Hawk, Leinart, Cutler etc) -People b**** about the mistake -Texans try to correct the mistake a year later -Same people b**** about them trying to correct the mistake.
The flipside of this, however, is the fans that defend every move no matter what as well. Ie, - Williams was not a mistake - Correcting the non-mistake is not a mistake
Kubiak - "Wanted a long term commitment from a young player ready to be in his prime. Catching Schaub at the perfect time. He could walk on the field right now and understand what they are doing." Fat Guy - "What about the Texans convinced you to come to Houston?" Schaub - Played golf with Gary. Excited about leading the huddle. Was sold on Texans commitment to winning... Rick Smith - Appreciates Carr's contributions... Working with representatives of David's to find another place to continue his career. Working on possible trades today... doesnt feel they will have a problem with that. David has value, and it is recognized over the league.
If anyone believes Mark Sherlith (no freaking way that's spelled right), Carr should get some offers. He thinks he'll succeed somewhere else, but agrees it was the right move to get rid of him.
McNair basically said extending Carr was a mistake. When asked that he said; (paraphrased) -- I dont' want to get into that. This is about the future. But yeah, I've made mistakes...but I've also made lots of good decisions. But this young man here (Schaub) has the leadership skills we felt we needed. in the context of the question, i thought those comments were particulalry pointed.
I was more surprised with his answer: "who the hell is this swoly guy who thinks Carr is still the starter? in the words of Hispanic World Series Champion manager, Ozzie Guillen, 'pfft....please'."
Schaub (on sacks) - Kubiak promised they were going to protect the quarterback. Spoke with Ahman Green, Green told him his favorite thing to do as a running back was to pick up the blitz. It made him grin ear to ear. He trusts the coach, as well. The signing of Green "enhanced" his outlook of wanting to be a Texan.
A lot of people are pissed that the Texans didn't invent a time machine so they could go back in time and draft VY. These arguements boil down to "Why would they trade for Shaub when they could have drafted VY?" Ummm, 'cause this is 2007 and he's not in the draft this year. Why don't we go back in time keep the Oilers from leaving while we're at it.
