What a well thougth out, intelligent post that hasn't been addressed in the previous 335 posts. Good job, rook.
I also should say Marshawn Lynch (assuming Peterson is gone). I have heard that Lynch has some questions surrounding his character, etc....Anyone know anything more?
Assuming you mean Matt Schaub, if you look at seasons other than his rookie season (where essentially every quarterback sucks), he averages out to a rating of around 90.
true, but none of his stats are really all that useful because of the small sample size. So I wouldn't base judgement on that in this case...or use it to support anything. And since I haven't posted in 10 pages or so, great trade However, on the people that say Schaub must be good at throwing on the run if Kubiak wanted him... his prospect profile said he would "lose accuracy" on his throws when throwing on the move. Then again, the way that's phrased, you could apply it to anyone.. so I'll trust Kubiak. link to that profile that is assumed to be 3 years old: http://www.nfl.com/draft/profiles/matt_schaub
Man, got to admit I did not think the Texan brass had the balls to go for this. I think this move has a lot to do with what Smitty's & Kuby's opinion of DC was and that even upgrading the cast around him would yield little gain. That he's damaged goods for us. Furthermore, leads me to believe that more deals are on the swing coming. Possibles: In addition to Carr going ... anywhere? (possibly Coke-land), Dominick Williams (formerly DD) for 2nd or 3rd? Hey, every year he has played with us except for one he gained 1,000 yards. Now, that's production from a 4th rounder! Would hate potentially to see DW go but, it may be necessary to continue the upgrade job makeover that is this franchise. Imagine this possible idea, your trio for next year ... Mathis, Ginn and AJ. We clearly need speed to stretch the defense plus, one KR and one PR. Sweeet!
Now I don't take a whole lot of stock in internet mock drafts simply because they are usually from a bunch of guys like us sitting around guessing. But, what is scary is, it seems 80% of them I've looked at has Peterson sitting there at #8. Could you imagine more of the backlash the Texans would get if they made this trade that ultimately had them pass on a stud RB who some say is even a better prospect than Reggie Bush? When it's all said and done, I don't think he will still be there at #8 but it's a scary thought.
Eh? Williams' career looks to be over with all the knee problems he is having. Who do you think will trade for him, let alone for a 2nd or 3rd?
i dont understand why everyone is so high on a guy with an 0-2 record as a starter. i mean yah he has alot of upside and potential but i mean i dont feel like we made an upgrade, maybe a lateral move.
Is this absolute medical proof or speculation? Last I heard, they were still seeing if the possibility of him playing would still exist?
Records are almost meaningless when evaluating individual players, and they're entirely meaningless when you're talking about a sample size as small as 2 games. He's performed very well the last two seasons when he's had the opportunity. He's got the size and scouts rave about his talent and particularly his coachability. In NFL circles he's been a star-in-waiting for two years now... the same kind of talk people gave Matt Hasselbeck several years ago when he was on the bench in Green Bay. Hopefully, the Texans will get similar results. In a way, he's like a draft pick in that there are definitely a lot of unknowns... but he should be ready sooner. imo, this is the best resolution of the QB situation for the Texans. It'll hurt other areas of the team, but looking strictly at QB, this is the best they could ask for. Sticking with Carr, even if you believe it's right for the team, has questionable ramifications in the clubhouse and in the community. Going to Plummer might've worked, but he's on the older side, and his success is mixed. Garcia would've been good in the very short-term, but given his age, they'd still need to actively pursue the position. Ramsey isn't a good starting quarterback, period. Schaub gives them the kind of credibility and talent they need for a starter, along with the age. The Texans really were in a bind here. The veteran QBs weren't that great and were short-term bandaids. The QBs in the draft like Quinn/Kolb might turn out well, but they require waiting 2-3 years to contend while they develop, and the fans are tired of waiting. Schaub is by far the best mix of someone ready to contribute now yet still in a position to be the face of the offense for the next 5-10 years, should he work out.
I drafted Schaub in the franchise fantasy draft on Madden and I won 5 Super Bowls in a row with him! The deal, clearly, is great! I like the move. This is the Texans version of the Battier trade.
Okay, finally read the entire thing. I don't understand why we need to flip 1st round picks. but assuming that schaub is our new starting qb, david will either be cut or traded. I honestly don't think we would get a second or third round pick for Carr. i see us getting a fouth round pick.
I hear ATL wanted to guarantee they'd get Landry... but that hasn't been proven. Just speculation by a great deal of people
I was there for that one and there was no smile on his face or mine. Just pain!! Thank the lord for asprin!!
I see us getting nothing. Everyone knows we will cut him eventually. Terribly played by Smith...Carr should have been traded weeks ago
