I believe Wex has contract with the Rockets, a friend of mine in the industry says that's how that works.
Exactly. It's a Coke/Pepsi thing with Pallillo apparently. Personally I would rather tear my own ears off than ever listen to a single syllable uttered by the guy. Rich Lord is the only guy in Houston who can rival Pallillo as the biggest dumba$$ on radio, and when those two were paired, it really was a time of radio dial exploration for me LOL However, I will have to try 790 in the mornings at least. Lopez is just an empty suit as far as I can tell. It's too bad, MVDM is a good guy, and deserves better. The lesson from all this: No one should EVER *aspire* to work in Houston radio on a sports station, your life will be nomadic and sucky.
Are you serious? LOL Anyway, 610 draws the ratings no matter who they have in the timeslots because they are the entrenched station in the city. I doubt they will be hurt short-term by losing Matt and Adam. Most non-internet listeners I talk to don't even know there is a 790 or a 1560.
It is funny but when Lopez was introduced as the new morning show co host Mattj said that he would sell his first born to have a morning show with Wex. Well now they have it. I will probably listen from work but when r they going to put on the Dan Patrick show. I hope they don't have it at the 8am timeslot. I hope they move it to 10am. I just wish we could have our old 610 back they had the best shows from morning to night.
I knew the writing was on the wall when they started that moronic 'H-Town and Beyond' crap every day at around 5PM. It is a SPORTS STATION guys. That's the kind of crap that sits in peoples' minds as 'the last straw'. It's just like John & Lance's last weeks with 610, they had them selling teddy bears and Coffee Mate, for God's sake. Lance even said that was the thing which really pushed him over the edge, having to act all enthusiastic about the non-dairy creamer LOL This has upper-management incompetence written all over it.
The days of hardcore strictly sports talk are over. Virtually every show these days has a lot of pop culture/hot chick references in it.
Yeah, the guy running the show their is apparently from Dallas and was bought over to "fix" things at 610. Go figure huh.

Wexler and Jackson, both longtime hosts at KILT (610 AM), will work from 6 to 10 a.m. in the slot now occupied by Ted DeLuca and guest hosts, said Michael Berry, director of AM programming for Clear Channel Houston. “We saw an opportunity to be the No. 1 sports station in Houston,” Berry said. “The opportunity to get these two guys together fills what we think is a hole in the market for a fun, entertaining morning sports show.” Berry said he is still finalizing details on KBME's midday and early afternoon lineup, which now includes the syndicated Dan Patrick show and DeLuca working a second shift leading into Charlie Pallilo’s afternoon drive time show. KBME has rated fourth among the four sports stations in Aribtron’s audience ratings for morning drive, but Jackson said he and Wexler hope to improve that standing. “This is a clear sign that they plan on doing everything to make the station No. 1,” Jackson said. “That is the goal. That should be the goal, and we will put our heart and soul into it.” Wexler, who had worked for KILT since 1995, said morning drive represents a new challenge. “I’m pleased to be taking it on, and I’m pleased to be working with Matt,” he said. “It’s going to be unscripted and unsupervised and hopefully something that people will enjoy.”
Jeremy Foster seemed like a nice guy but he was terrible on the radio. Their 10-11 am slot took a huge upgrade when Clanton replaced him. I couldn't stand him and Matt in the evenings, but when Matt was paired up with Wex it was magic.

yeah, most of the Chron commenters(if that's even a word) aren't the brightest bunch or just like to slob on John and Lance's pieces. MattJ sent me a tweet saying "Next Monday" I guess we'll have to wait till then.
Man I was pretty loyal to 610 all these years, people leaving did not bother me that much, but my two favorites leaving at the same time just kills it for me. I remember back in the day those two in the evenings was like hanging out with buddies and having a blast, never got tired of them. I'm switching to 790 also. I just wish they were in the afternoon time slot, thats when everybody gets off work. At least I wont have to listen in the morning on my way to work to Mark VanderSNORE and "insert 2nd host name here"
I don't like 610s line up except for the new guy doing 10-11 am every morning. I think his name is Josh Enis. THAT GUY is HILARIOUS. I won't miss his show and he has been on only 2 weeks. I hope he gets a longer show cuz he is funny as hell.
Time for Matt to retire his staple: celebrity birthdays. 610 is still doing it, mornings and afternoons. Come up with something different. One change at 610 I do like, they have extended their LOCAL programming to 11pm at night AND weekend afternoons and nights. I think 790 and 1560 bail on local shows at 7, right?
