Lord Almighty, somebody should've warned me... I tune into afternoon sportstalk on 610 at work this afternoon and I hear this voice that reminds me of yesteryear... and gives me the urge to kill kittens. Barry Freakin' Warner?! Who dug this guy up? I thought he was overseas doing real estate or something. Talk about one of the biggest loudmouths to ever grace the airwaves. It was like he was frozen in time and thawed recently. Whoever his co-host was started talking about Nebraska and he starts going on a tirade about Tom Osborne. Hello? 2009? I hope he's toned his crap down, but I doubt it.
I heard Barry Warner a couple of times on the way home from work recently and he is TERRIBLE! I guess it would help if people actually cared about what happened 20+ years ago. What a joker! Do all of the older sportsradio guys fall in love with listening to themselves talk? He's harder to listen to than Craig Roberts. AM610 is killing themselves.
I STILL cannot get 1560 in my home, so I am ecstatic to see this combo in the morning. Listening to 610 while getting ready for work was making me dumber and dumber. This is beyond rad!
I am still on 1-3pm except I share it with Hoffy... Its a combo, a little of what you heard on "The Afternoon Delight" mixed in with the Hoffy Show... If you did not hear, we do talk sports and had Scola on last week for an hour...

Seems like this all happened when Lopez changed to 610, it set the motion for Wex and MattJ to defect to 790. 1560 doesn't seem to get any defects other than Danny Vera. Granato, Lance, and Nuno were there from the inception. (I'm just counting their on air guys, not Chance or their weasels, ferrets, and lemmings.) So 610 loses Wex and MattJ and add Lopez, Warner, and Davies. FAIL 610 is now what 790 use to be.
610 is now the worst parts of what 790 had... but as others have mentioned, it's all about ratings. how people can enjoy listening to it for 15 minutes is beyond me, but apparently there is an audience.
i can't find the rating numbers but how did the late night show with jackson and wexler do? obviously they will have higher numbers doing a morning drive show on 790, but 610 has to be thinking that a monsters show (at whichever time the decide) will preform better than pairing jackson and wexler again. i don't personally agree with that, but it's the only thing they could possibly be thinking.
What a coup for 790. They went from a one-trick pony behind Palillo to having probably the best drive-time shows on both ends.
mattj and wexy FTW FTW FTW though i do wish wexy can keep his post as the rockets radio color, that's a great gig their rox basketball pregame and postgame was just fantastic, they kept this then-19 yr old delivering chinese food guy a very happy camper
All the local hosts suck except Pallilo. If you're going to talk smack about pro athletes go see if you can do better, seriously.
