no they don't, their "sports" radio is garbage. looks like 790 has built a pretty nice lineup... adding wex/mattj to charlie is pretty f'ing clutch. those are my 3 favorite talk show hosts by far.
Huge Huge loss for 610! I'm not sure what KILT is doing. I'm sure they don't know what they are doing. Why did they let their two top talents go to a rival that was on it's way down? I think this move is as large as Granato and Zierlein becomign 1560. I grew indifferent to listening to Vandermeer. However, John Lopez still sucks. I will no longer be hearing crap about ****ty 70s rock band, and girly hollywood talk, and hear about John Lopez's panty fetish. No one gives a **** about Starbucks coffee Marc. I'm not high on their new guy, but he's new, so I'll give him a chance. Barry Warner is barry boring. There is some other guy on there I think, but he's boring too. John Lopez sucks. Don't give a **** about your ****ty ass AAU team, and who played on it, and whos playing in division 1 college. I'm not a fan of Craig, I think his show on 610 sucked ass. Loved how he talked **** about 1560 and other stations when he was on 610, and then went on 1560 to talk **** about 610. Guess what Craig, no one gives a **** about when Lil Flips new album comes out. It's the same damn songs from his other CDs. I write songs in 15 minutes/Escalade/Houston/15 minutes/i gots gold teeth. I bet Dickie Rosenfeld never envisioned this.
good to see they left, but I don't like that they are in the morning. John and Lance are the best morning show ever, they are exactly what I want in the morning. They can talk about sports very very well, and they can also go off on hilarious tangents. Theres a reason why music stations have 'morning shows'- people want to be entertained in the morning. I want straight sports talk in the afternoon, so I'd rather matt/wex move to afternoon on 1560 I wouldn't miss sean and john at all.
I like Sean and John, very underrated show imo. I can;t stand straight sports talk. It becomes repetative and boring. I prefer the show to be fun with some light sports discussion. That's why I love 1560. If I want to listen to idiots talk about houston sports, I'll log on here
what i meant by straight sports talk was a more coordinated sports show. I dont think anyone enjoys straight sports talk for hours and hours. Yeah, I really wish 1560 would get rid of the Tim Brando Show to squeeze people in. More Nuno, less "email" songs. (btw- I wonder how sporting news feels about 1560 making fun of that all the time)
yeah i agree a move to afternoon would have been better. I mean mornings are harder to schedule regular guests and in studio guests.
Well ... 790 just became the premier sports radio station in Houston. 610 is done...gone from my dial. Matt and Wex back together, Dan Patrick AND Palilo? Awesomeness.
Real talk though... Josh Innes is good. He got some potential. I actually like the voice of the texans in the am when i listen to the podcast...lopez not so much... looks like 790 for me...if only they got rid of ted deluca...it would be PERFECT.
Preset. 790. Delete 610. Thank GOD. I've been waiting for Matt and Adam to have their own show. All they need is Danny back and they are made. LOL 610!!! Poor suckers...NOT!
WTF? This came out of nowhere. Yeah, I'm not usually all 'OMG (X) sports radio sux!!, I must tell the Internet!!', but I have to admit that what 790 has now built is very appealing. I miss listening to Palilo on a regular basis. Still, 610 will be broadcasting my Texans and Rockets games, so I'm not going to be too quick to take 'em off my presets just yet.
This makes my mornings very difficult. Gonna have to flip a coin every morning and decide which morning show to listen to.
Separately, MJ & Wex are pretty good, but put them together, and you get Voltron/Captain Planet/Devastator-like awesomeness. Goodbye, Vanderdork & Obnoxious Anti-UT Aggie. You've just been relegated to "commercials duty" on my radio in the morning.
I just read on the Houston Chronicle that Jackson is teaming up with Wexler at 790 for the morning drive time slot.
