Congrats, Matt. You deserve it. The funny thing is when I first started listening to you when you did the night gig by your lonesome, I remember disliking you at first because it sounded like you were trying too hard to be Rome (of whom I've never been a big fan). But you've grown so much as a radio talk show host over the years that now you are easily my favorite thing on 610 and all of the talk show radio in Houston. Then, after having surpassed the sctick that Rome utilizes (albeit with great effectiveness, I admit), you get to host his show. That's funny. I agree with whoever suggested you get Clanton to call in and pretend to be Rome. His impression is so dead on no one will question it. Stage a fake fight with Rometon accusing you of screwing up his show or something to that effect. You will be a Jungle legend after that. I'd also like to echo the love for the Sklars as guest hosts. The last time I heard those guys on his show, they were discussing that Taco Bell commercial with Evander Holyfield, and I was laughing so hard I could barely drive. They called the tiny checkout girl (she had to be tiny because Holyfield was like 3 feet taller than her and he's only 6'-2") a "Shetland person". I can't help it. Everytime I see a midget or dwarf now, I keep thinking of them as Shetland people.

I know you're a Phil Hendrie fan. Have you ever heard him do his Jim Rome Show? It's scary good. Complete with Phil "calling in" and voicing the clones.

I'm curious about logistics, and since we have an insider here I might as well ask. (without being in radio, bear with me...) how does the format work of actually making the show happen from Houston? does the XR4TI crew operate out of L.A. and the Houston team does their thing from the 610 studios?

Wow this is huge and deserved. Mattj has always been one of my favorite guys in Houston. He was one of the only few to call out the VY & Rich Lord type callers when they all said VY would revolutionalize the QB positiona and the Texans would never live it down. An on top of that, Mattj is a fellow coog. This is awesome.
