I am new to this so bare with me...I am from OKC, Ok and have been following the offseason pretty closely with football. What is the word on Tito Maddox? I know he is a guard from Fresno ST. with worlds of upside but is a trouble maker. Rashard is a fun guy to watch...but I'd like to see the chemistry with Francis(balanced), Cat (Slasher/shooter), Boki (Peja Clone), Griffin (Could be a stud like Jamison) and Ming (@7'5 with skills...'nuf said). This should be a fun team to watch and because of Yao....I'll get to see more games in this OVERRATED mavs market Thank you ping pong balls for bouncing our way!
    :) :D

If it's that impossible to pull of a deal with BYC, then how was Sea able to trade Baker? I assume Baker has BYC crap in his contract also.

    oh lord.

everybody thinks the mavs dont have any defenders, when in fact they have some very good role players that come off the bench for them at the 3 and 4 spot.

    najera, buckner, griffin.

bangers wont play in nellie's system with the exception of maybe a kurt thomas type of player. and the only the mavs could get kurt thomas is by taking on charlie ward, and i pray this doesn't happen. in any event, having a strong front court is overrated at times.

golden state, miami, LAC, etc. what do they all have in common? a strong, brusing front court that didn't make the playoffs.

Were the bench players' D good enough to eliminate a conference power like San Antonio or Sacramento? Will bringing Rashard in eliminate the Mavs main weaknesses? I think that was the point Rocks was trying to make. It's subtraction by addition...

    oh no!
is this the SECOND TIME we're turning away Rashard Lewis for an unproven foreign player?

hehe... actually i like boki better too. but if he busts like turkcan, and dallas signs lewis for around $5m, boy the rockets management are gonna take some serious heat and it's gonna come back to haunt the rockets for years...

sure we've got rice now and nachbar in the future, but lewis is surely a player to be reckoned with, maybe even a franchise/superstar in the making...

D is a weakness, but no one player will be able to fix that at all. It will take a concerted team effort, and pride in playing D that will do it.

Look at Sac-town in 2000 and the difference in 2001. They actually took pride in playing D, and it showed.

Anybody who says Rashard Lewis doesnt make the mavs a better team, is dreaming. The mavs defiency right now is at the 3 spot and Lewis is a very nice player.

I think Baker signed his contract quite a while ago, the BYC crap comes off the contract over about two years IIRC.

Sorry this is so long, this is my first quote, so i have to get some things out.

I think Finley has a slight edge on Mobley. As far as Nachbar over Lewis, that's yet to be seen.
Here's how i see it shaping out.
    - Francis and Mobley = best guard duo in NBA. I don't think that's biased either.
    - Nachbar with 1 year of experience, teamed with Griffin or Taylor will make a stacked 3 and 4. Stacked because when you have names like Kenny Thomas, Glen Rice, and Terence Morris, who is explosive, coming off the bench, that's deep. Im curious to see what Rudy does with those forwards. And that's not to mention what happens if we get Lewis.
    - Obviously Yao will be more than a presence. We don't need him to score, though he'll still find a way to score double figures. We got plenty of offensive scorers. His offensive rebounding will be huge, as well as defensive. He will alter more shots than he will block, which is what made Hakeem the best of his time.
    - Then you got Moochie Norris on the bench to back up the guards, who could start for about half the NBA teams.
    - Backup for Yao? Only $42 million Cato, who is still learning, or at least we hope so. And another 7 footer in the stiff Collier.
    - To tie it all together, Rudy is arguably the best coach in the league, just ask the players themselves. Only Pat Riley may be better when it comes to dealing with big centers.
    - Best part, we're young.

    Just a thought

Holden, you can't call Lewis a "total traitor" if he decides to join Dallas. The fact that Lewis is even considering Houston after we practically betrayed him on draft night is amazing. Dallas and Houston are two very attractive teams.
But, i agree he should strongly consider us too. The total package around him here is better than Dallas'. Also Dallas can only offer him 3 years $15 mill. We can find a way to offer him his coveted 6 years $85 mill.
Wouldn't it be great to be in his shoes right now?
