Please don't take this personally but that signature needs to go.

You can take this one to the bank, we will NOT be 2003 NBA Champs.

Rashard Lewis is not going to make any team a cinch to beat the Lakers. . . .you have to have someone able to handle Shaq. . . Yao isn't going to do it this year . .but in a couple of years he might be the one. Unless we can trade Mo Taylor or Glen Rice in some way for Rashard. . we may as well stand pat. Getting him for one year so he can go into free agency next year is no help. . . .However a month ago his agent Carl Poston said bringing Yao to Houston was of real interest to Rashard. . . .

Free agent Lewis to meet with Mavs
    07/24/2002

By MARC STEIN / The Dallas Morning News

Houston native Rashard Lewis, frustrated in his attempts to secure a lucrative long-term contract from the Seattle SuperSonics, has agreed to visit Dallas on Thursday to tour the Mavericks' facilities and meet with owner Mark Cuban.

    Rashard Lewis

Lewis, the most celebrated unrestricted free agent on the market this summer, is seeking a six-year deal in the $80-90 million range from the Sonics. With Seattle believed to be offering no more than $50-55 million, Lewis has commeneced negotiations with the Mavericks.

That's even though Cuban, whose payroll already sits well over the league's new $40.3 million salary cap, can't offer anything more lucrative than a three-year, $15 million package.

The Mavericks are encouraging fans to greet Lewis at D-FW Airport when he lands from Houston on Thursday. Lewis is scheduled to arrive at 11:48 a.m. on American Airlines flight 1058.

I don't think winning a championship is Cuban's only concern. He wants to put a exciting team on the court which he does. Lets face it, although they may never even get to the WCF, they are the most exciting team to watch from a fans perspective. Bringing Rashard in creates excitement and excitement sells tickets.

The Rockets dont really need lewis we have so many guys at 3/4
    Nachbar
    Griffin
    Taylor
    Thomas
    Rice
    Morris
6 Forwards are enough espically when we will have 3 centers
    Ming
    Cato
    Collier
    and 5 guards
    Francis
    Mobley
    Torres
    Norris
    Brown?

I think Lewis will just take more shots which will already be spread around thinly

first of all if you watched that series, you know the kings are Nba champions. and have a good chance to repeat next year.

second of all, if rashard signs with dallas he is a total traitor. seeing that his hometown can offer him the exact same deal. if he signs with them let us never speak of him again...

i find it interesting how dallas has so many scorers, but it makes sense to some people that they could use him. in my mind it makes just as much sense for houston to sign him as it does them. both teams are set at all positions.

    :(

Repeat as chokers? That'll be fun to watch. :p

Gawd dayum. Those who don't own cable next year are going to be shafted out of that series. :(

Anyways...I don't feel that Rashard is worth as much as he's asking and there weren't any signs of monster improvement that he was "expected" to make last season. Someone said it on the dot (Rocksmillenium) when he says it weakens both Dallas and Seattle.

Holden--after the way Rashard was treated by the Rockets on his draft night, I don't think he could ever be a "total traitor" by not playing with the Rockets.

If anything, it is a testament to his hometown pride and his childhood love for the Rockets that he is even the least bit interested in coming to play here, let alone having it high on his list.

i don't think rashard lewis is any better than what we have. rashard is actually just a more beefed up eddie griffin. he shoots the threes effectively, runs the floor nicely, plays an inside game every now and then, and defense . . . does rashard actually play defense? i don't remember seeing it.

i bet you, head to head in a heated game that kenny thomas could outplay rashard. why pay for a guy that your 3's and 4's can handle now?

We're a team that is set at all positions and needs the chance to mature. that means maybe another lackluster season of growth. we need to suffer now for the fruits of their labor though.

was sacremento an overnight sensation or did they learn to grow with their personnel. yeah, they did it right away with bibby, but he was the one missing piece. the rockets don't really have everything together but a missing piece. they just need to mature.
