    Rashard who?

...at least that is how I would feel if he chose Dallas over Houston or even Seattle.

Still just a ploy to get more $$$ from SEA. And since when did DAL get the cap space for Lewis?

Lewis can sign for the MCE just as easily with Dallas over Houston. But he is a fool if that happens! H-town is a far superior town for NBA players to live. Come home Shard, come home!

I think NewRoxFan is right. However I don't think he is going to be a Rocket.

    This is from ESPN insider:

Jul. 22 - The Tacoma News Tribune reported Sunday that the Sonics are trying to get Lewis to sign a seven-year, $49 million deal. Lewis was furious that the Sonics have offered him only a starting salary that is $500,000 more than what backup center Jerome James got and about $40 million less than the deal he was seeking. Lewis is so disappointed with the team's offer that he's considering signing a three-year contract for the mid-level exception with another team. The News Tribune reported in today's editions that the Mavericks have contacted Lewis. The Rockets, Bulls, Raptors, Nets, Knicks and Sixers also have interest in Lewis with their mid-level exceptions. "If Rashard wants to go to another team, there is nothing I can do about that," Sonics GM Rick Sund told the News Tribune.

Highly unlikely Shard comes home, too good to be true, and that is total bs about wanting to start Boki already over Shard IF he were here, THAT doesn't make a lick of sense. Perfect scenario would have homeboy back in town with Boki backing him up getting enough minutes to learn the NBA game and develop nicely, with Rice being shipped out with one of the glutted PFs for proven backup SG.
Does anyone know how much, if any the Sonics cleared by trading Vinny? This could affect whether Shard stays in SEA or bolts...

If I were Seattle, I would let Rashard walk, trade Payton for some young up and comers, and rebuild for the future. Who knows? That may be what they're doing. Kenny Anderson?

All is quiet, but a loud noise will rise out of the West hereafter this day. The son will run south one way or the other to secure his prosperity for all the world to see.

The silence of said "insiders" could be the most telling quality about this rumor.

(wink, wink, nudge, nudge) ;) :D

Nobody is going to show up Sofine81 concerning Rashard Lewis inside scoop or breaking news on a signing tonight, or early in the morning (Tuesday). There is a meeting tomorrow between Lewis & the Sonics management so we should know alot more late tomorrow in my opinion. Get some sleep homeslice!

*Here is a message from a Sonic fan who has access to a bit of inside scoop being that he is in Seattle to get the local media's resources:

    http://boards.espn.go.com/cgi/nba/request.dll?MESSAGE&room=nba_sea&id=147381

    Title: Breaking News!!!

OK, I haven't slept in 48 hours, but I think I heard this right. Wally was on with Locke tonight and said the club may be willing to go OVER the lux tax limit this year to get Rashard signed with Seattle because they'll go back under next year after Anderson's deal comes off the books. He didn't make it sound like they'd go way over, but he hinted that they may go a little over to get him signed. In his words, "we're trying really hard to bring Rashard back"

By the way, all those reports from Hughes were fabricated or coming from an unreliable source. Sund said today that they haven't even offered Shard a contract yet...no numbers were given, so how could Shard be offended. This is probably why he wanted to come onto KJR this morning...to clear the air.

PS to this message: Shard skipped the KJR morning radio segment for some strange reason even after committing to the interview in the first place; giving out a phone number to the sports radio talk show reporter dudes only to find a disconnected phone line on the other end come interview time.

I thought Dallas used their entire MCE to sign Raef LaFrentz, making them unable to get rashard unless via sign & trade (which SEA says it will NOT do).

What about San Antonio? He'd fit in real nice with Duncan/Robinson/Parker. I'd have to say that that would qualify as a shift of power in the Western Conference.
