I watched a bit of his Tucker Carlson interview and it dawned on me that Gaetz looks a lot like a cheesy movie villain. In fact, he looks like the younger version of Dorian Tyrell from The Mask.
The most unbelievable part of this story is that Joe Biden would Pardon Matt Geatz. That would be like Trump pardoning AOC. His whole distraction conspiracy theory he's trying to use to deflect is just plain stupid, and confusing. Did he traffic a 17 year old or did he not? Age of consent in Florida is 18. If he had a sexual relationship in Florida with a minor, I'd rather see a statutory rape charge from state prosecutors than a sex trafficking charge from federal prosecutors. Maybe the facts of the case dictate this path (like perhaps they only had sex in DC where the age of consent is 16), but it sounds like the meat of the crime is under state authority and the feds are using a technicality to give themselves jurisdiction.
It was stated from a federal case that's where they got the information, does not mean the state can't start a case once they get more info. Gaetz also said his family went to the FBI.

First, 18 U.S.C. § 2423 makes it a felony punishable by a minimum of 10 years in prison (and by as much as life in prison) to “knowingly transport[] an individual who has not attained the age of 18 years in interstate or foreign commerce… with intent that the individual engage in prostitution, or in any sexual activity for which any person can be charged with a criminal offense.” Sex with a 17 year old is Statutory rape.
