dude get a life. if you love the game of basketball you have to like bullard. he tells you how it is. he shows plays and describes every movement. hes not scared to tell the refs how to ref either.clyde may be a hell of a player but, he sucks at calling games.

Exactly, scola flops all the time but whenever lowry does it his theatrics are just funny  so I'll just let him slide.

What I don't like about Bullard is that he takes the "telling it like it is" thing too far, to the point where he will often take a contradictory stance regardless of its veracity just to try to prove whatever point he's harping on -- which is usually something to do with flopping. Like he'll start ranting about a missed call, and then when a clearly legitimate offensive foul does happen at the other end, he'll call it a flop too because he doesn't want to step down from his soapbox. He really doesn't offer much in the way of intelligent basketball analysis either, unfortunately. He hardly has our own players properly scouted, let alone opposing players. I guess we can give him some credit for knowing Scola likes to go right...

He is better than Clyde though, I'll give him that.

On the contrary, clyde sucks so bad at what he does his idiocy with respect to certain things always gives me a chuckle.

    "Yea ____ can do that."

" He ___ is always a consumate proffessional."

There was this one time he lost it though but Bullard needs to get on scola for his flopping too. B.c he seems really hypocritical whenever he goes crazy. I gotta admit, he bleeds rockets red and you can't question how loyal he is to this team.

I've always liked Bill. His comments to the side like "I like tuff guys," and what not are always funny and embarrassing at the same time. He adds a nice element.

That being said bring back calvin! :D

Bet against the Rockets and those flops will stop being called. Money line bet, you will get rich, and in the end they will stop screwing over Houston sports fans.

Did anyone hear in the background "You guys are horrible. You need to stop falling for these flops". It sounded like Adelman.

I was at a bar. Heard nothing. But from what I gather... kudos to Bull.

Calvin Murphy is like that black alternate jersey, some of you just can't let it go. I always thought he was a gimmick hire when he first came on, though I admit it was funny hearing him at times, sorta like Drexler these days.

Matt needs to cut out the long extended rants about flopping and what's good for basketball speeches, I want hear about the game that is being played at the moment, not some diatribes about the evil side of basketball like he's in Capitol Hill.

Scola doesn't do proper flops, ie AK47 acting 101.

Now you're just being a homer. Scola is a big time flopper and I don't think I've ever had such a love-hate attitude towards a player. And he gets the call a lot, at least as much as other notorious floppers.

As for Lowry, if durvasa hadn't pointed out the flopping on picks, I would have said Kyle doesn't flop. Other than that, a lot of times he'll drive into a player (cause serious contact) and basically force the refs to call something. He gets the call pretty often but I'd like to see a no call more often. But that's more like exploiting the rules than flopping.

Battier rarely flops. Occasionally he'll fall to the ground when trying to take a charge even if being slightly out of position due the offensive player suddenly changing direction. But those occurrences are very rare, I think.

Chuck doesn't flop. Are you kidding me? His drawn charges are the most legitimate.

I'm with Gakatron with what to do about flopping. Don't give the floppers the benefit of the doubt. Make a blacklist of players and don't give them the call, when they fall. Update the list accordingly. Some players (varejao) would quickly be out of the league and the league would be better from it.

But it really is on the refs. When Scola just falls on his back when someone's backing him down and the ref right there on the baseline standing just a few feet away calls a charge... I'm perplexed. I would be so disgusted after seeing that, I wouldn't call an offensive foul if the player would proceed to use Scola as means for getting higher of the ground. Floppers are basically insulting the referees' intelligence. And yet, they don't care.

Yeah, I did. Portland flops, so what? Our team does it all the time but I don't hear Bullard sobbing whenever Scola, Battier, Lowry, or Hayes flops. He could at least be consistent with his extremely annoying and over the top campaign against flopping. I wish we had a broadcasting team like the Clippers or the Warriors or even the Lakers.

That was Bullard. When the camera panned out you could see him with his headset off trying to put it back on after making the comment. Then he just went on with his commentating as if nothing happened. It was classic.

I'm sorry that I don't like your boyfriend's style. He's whiny, he's not funny, and nothing about his basketball analysis is anything special. I understand that he's a former Rocket so there's lots of love for him, but honestly there has to be someone better than Bullard.

If I love the game of basketball I have to like Bullard? Uh, no.

So, who thinks Bullard is out of a job after this season?

Watching tons of games on League Pass I see tons of announcers who make Bull or even Clyde look like All-Stars. 'By comparison' doesn't give anyone a pass but - refs may be easier to like than most NBA colormen.

Oh, I agree. There ARE worse commentators out there. Heinsohn over at Boston is particularly grating. However, that doesn't mean that Bullard himself isn't mediocre. Just because he's better than a few others doesn't mean we have to lower our standards and just accept him. If LA and GS could find pretty good colormen, why can't we? I feel that if Worrell is teamed with someone competent, the entire broadcast would improve dramatically. Bill just needs someone to work with.

No argument, your point is valid. Marty Glickman was known as 'the coach' at NBC. A veteran sports announcer he worked with lots of NBC guys making the transition. Perhaps that would work for Bull; I do not believe it would for Clyde. Calvin anyone?
