He may have been one of the best when he was 25, healthy, and at the peak of his athleticism, but no amount of health can compensate for his athletic decline. Also, what incentive is there for the Rockets to buy him out?
He looks the same athletically as he did during the streak which should enable him to still play at a high level, I admit though theres definitly decline from his orlando days. but it makes no sense for Rockets to hold him on the roster when it's clear that Adelman just doesn't want him on the team(due to personal issue's) Unless management really wants to ruin his career, they can buy him out and still get their cap relief.
Houston: Bell and Claxtons Expiring contract #2 pick Vladimir Radmanovic Raja Bell Speedy Claxton Ronny Turiaf Kelenna Azubuike Golden State: McGrady Expiring contract *Tracy McGrady Trevor Ariza Aaron Brooks - or - Chase Budinger
If TMac took a 4 million dollar loss on the buyout it would put the Rockets under the lux tax line. And if there are no good deals for TMac...then fine. DD
Houston: Claxtons Expiring contract. #2 pick Corey Maggette Vladimir Radmanovic Speedy Claxton Ronny Turiaf Kelenna Azubuike Golden State: McGrady / Lowry / Cooks Expiring contracts. 2nd Round pick Tracy McGrady Trevor Ariza Kyle Lowry Jermaine Taylor Sergio Llull Brian Cook It's hard to know where GS stands, but i sence changes and also sence those changes won't happen without including their pick. The question is what team can help them financially the most moving forward? Houston! Also, look at their record and long-term salaries, they are in a bad position. And, They are trying to land star players. I think with McGrady's contract you have enough to take on Radmanovic and Turiaf & resign Scola.
I kinda of see this as liars poker, DM has got to put his best poker face on right now in having to move Tracy's monster contract. Word has probably trickled down that Morey isn't going to budge with including other assets to help move Tracy. I don't believe any GM this time of year. More than likely Morey is going to have to give up a young asset to get what he wants and he knows and has said that a trade is the best way to improve the team. Let's see which teams blink in the final hours going into the trade deadline. Should be alot of fun.
Your Post is spot-on (as I have same said several times in Posts). The fun is gone for many on the BBS because they, and yes, I as well, have been waiting for McG's sneaker to drop since about Christmas. It's coal in them thar stockings to date, but coal under pressure becomes diamonds. I still believe, I do I do, that DM the GM will bring home a positive return for McG, and the inevitable follow-up swap.
Claxton was released earlier this week... Got to look at what the team has before making these "possible" trades... http://www.nba.com/warriors/roster/index.html And DM won't turn over half the roster like this.
So in exchange for Lowry, Ariza, expirings, and a potential prospect in Llull, we get....... Corey Maggette. And trash. And Maggette is really not that good either. Please inform me if you're drunk or just an idiot, as this is an utterly lopsided trade in GS's favor. A high first round pick is not even remotely worth Lowry, Ariza, Llull and taking back overpaid crap in Maggette, Rad, and Turiaf.
If not TmAC THAN sENOR sTASH : Mickael Pietrus 6-6 SG / SF from France (Foreign) 8.5 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 0.7 apg in 23.6 minutes J.J. That's probably because they won the game before this one. If Rockets win it sounds like vibes are good the Rockets can sit on his 22m.... If Rockets lose = Tmac's going bye bye. or What they are saying is true and Morey can't get it done/find suitable players and will wait for the offseason to "cash in" on a all star. Seeing as Yao is coming off a major injury no all star will dip below their signing level for the Rockets. Sign&trade/Trade is the only route to get some good players back. Correct me if I'm wrong about my est. but we will have an estimated 7mill in cap space if Lowry and Scola resign for an est. 4mill a piece and the Luxury tax dips to 55mill.. We'll have to trade some of our good players to even sniff a Bosh. Every loss makes me want the Rockets to trade tmac and get it over with. No matter happens what the Rockets need is scoring help badly. If they decide to sit on his contract they can get Von Wafer this season for cheap and his injury is looking a lot better why not?
You are a fool, what you want top picks for free? you have to give to get buddy. McGrady value plemished to around 7 million, his value is not worth 22 million.
Exactly, you have to take on salary with their top picks without making huge future financial mistakes and by not losing much in the process and going by their agenda of upgrading to fresh new talent. Even a sign and trade, Les is forking out 4 million extra which means taking on somebody you hold no real interest in AND it's only a lateral move to buy him out.
This is what it looks like for the Rockets (if we want to upgrade): $22 million (trade tmac now) > $7 Million cap space to spend For the other teams near the Luxury Tax Line it looks like this... $22 million Players eating up salary <or= $22 million(tmac) cap space to spend on All-Star caliber players If the Rockets want to stay competitive they trade before the deadline. What are the rules on MLE? I know for Lowry we have a Qualifying offer we can keep him if we want to. If we can get Scola for the MLE then bam we keep both but we're paying major luxury tax. If the Rockets like what we have now they keep what they have and see what they want to get for 7 million. And each move is a risk. Trade tmac = it is time to win now/near future and pay luxury tax to win Keep tmac = team goes no where but we will have 7mill and possibly a good draft pick Other teams Trade for tmac = hit reset button, who knows what we will get in the summer but they will have a good chance to snag an all-star or 2 Keep Players = back at square one with a draft pick So basically Tmac is just a big reset button.
$22 million Players eating up salary < or = $22 million(tmac) cap space to spend on All-Star caliber players Edit
what if they don't move him, tmac agrees to play for peanuts, and yao leans on management to keep him? hmmm nope. won't happen... in that case, we need to send macgrady somewhere he can't hurt us.
OH NO!!! Please just trade him!!!!!!!! Whatever you do, make sure you trade him right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
