Woody is an idiot and SAS is idiot #2. SAS' anti Bullard bias is obvious. If I was Bull, I'd walk now, because it is obvious that SAS and Woody have already voted for Dee even before next week's contest.

I've never seen this show before last week, but I caugh the last episode and tonight's.

ESPN has done a poor job of setting this one up. They have basically given the job to Dee Brown .. it's been a Dee Brown lovefest since I tuned in. Why tune in next week when Bullard doesn't have a chance in hell?

Also, does anyone get the feeling that they let America decide tonight's vote? They seem to just set up drama, it almost made me think that some of the judges had votes written against Bullard and Scott, and just went the way necessary to make it 2-2 for the final vote.

Barring a major change in performance next week, Dee Brown will win this contest. However, I thought the judges were ridiculously easy on Scott tonight. None of them mentioned that he lumped Orlando into the Atlantic Division(besides neglecting to mention Boston) and he way overused the "talking to players" spiel. I can't believe Al Jaffe didn't point that out. Especially that crap about attending Shaq's birthday party. That in and of itself should have been enough to get him kicked off the show.
As an analyst, I want to know what you think, not what a player told you. Dee Brown did that part right by mentioning while he played with Walker all of Antoine's flaws. Plus, why is Dennis Scott saying the Rockets can't win in the postseason because of the PG position. The rotation of Sura and James is a solid PG duo, and the weakness is at PF, big time. But the judges didn't point that out, and I wish Dee or Matt would have pointed out Mike James numbers since the trade not to mention Sura's numbers for the year to blast Dennis out of the water.

In my opinion ESPN's standards(beyond what we already knew) have apparently gone out the window based on who they have as judges, and the numerous mistakes the judges neglected to point out in their critiques. Also, it bothers me that Stephen A Smith openly admitted weeks ago on the show that Dennis was his "boy." It seemed fairly clear to me that he wouldn't vote Dennis off unless it was beyond obvious he had to go. On Matt, his view on Boston was good, his views on the Lakers/Sonics were weak, but I liked his take on the Heat. He did what a good analyst does, and gave his opinion strongly. They said he didn't answer the question, but that's not really true. He openly said he thought nobody could contend with Miami, and I like someone willing to go out on a limb like that. He also was more assertive and was the most excited guy up there tonight. How Scott got "better personality marks" from Paige is beyond me.

But to be truthful, right now nobody in that group is ready to be a good analyst. However that said, Dee Brown is the frontrunner to "win" this contest right now.

I told my wife the exact same thing - Scott deserved to be voted off... he was the most vanalla of the 3 - bjut its like they made sure it was 2-2 going in

I also think they handed this to Dee Brown too early - he has some nice takes but Scott and Bull were far better speakers

Sorry ron - I flat missed it. You're definitely not on ignore - I enjoy hearing what you have to say. I really can't afford to ignore anyone anyway :)

I agree. Jafe or whatever his name is got me thinking that when he was reading his "notes" but read it like it was a script. I could imagine the piece of paper in front of him saying:

    Praise Dee Brown, then...

If you need to vote out Dennis Scott:
    (blah, blah, blah)

If you need to vote out Matt Bullard:
    (blah, blah, blah)

Totally agree. No way Woody Paige or SAS will vote off Dee Brown. They clearly have some kind of bias against Bullard. Unless Brown screwes up next week (and he would have to screw up big), Bullard has no chance.

I don't know if they would do it exactly like that, but I do think there is a formula for how they read the results because it changes every week. Let's say all 4 judges voted someone off, I think they would read America's vote FIRST. Sort of like last week. They want to make it count. Otherwise, like you said, there would be no drama.

They wouldn't get off the guy's jock tonight. Like Clutch said, there was a HUGE lovefest for Dee Brown. This was the first time I really sat down and watched this show for a few min.

The reason I think that Bull and Dennish Scott wont get the position is becuase they always start chuckling with each other in between the judges responses. Dee Brown has been professional all throught out. They would do it every single time the camera would slightly get off of them... It was annoying that crap outta me. They dont seem to want it as badly as Dee Brown wants it.

The problem with the show, besides from the fact that the judge panel is horrible, and the fact that Stuart Scott really is just annoying these days, is that the situations are so artificial.

Sure, some of these guys would have been better then others as announcers, but there is no reason why all of them couldn't at least be as good as Greg Anthony, Tim Legler, Mark Jackson, CHarles Barkely, Kenny Smith, etc. in an actual show setting.

I watched the show for the first time last night and while the judges jock Dee Brown, he did a way better job than Air Bull and D. Scott. I'll be shocked if Dee loses.

What made me turn the show off was when all 3 analyst hopefuls were praising Yao for what he has done, and then Paige, a friggin sportswriter from Denver, just says they're all wrong, and that Yao is a soft player. He then says that Yao could not get the team over the hump against the Wolves. Newsflash to woody: Yao is the only player who showed up to the game, and he physically dominated the Wolves out there. He packed KG, dunked on whoever was playing center for them, and just abused the Wolves' interior. He was so dominant that they guarded him with 2 players throughout the 2nd half. How the hell did this guy become an authority on NBA analysis?

And which game were you watching again?

    Y. Ming 21 and 5 hardly qualifies him as dominant.

Saw this the first time since Hall won...I thought Bull did alright, but geese, Freakin' self proclaimed know it all StephenJ... This guy is horrible, and he's a judge...give me a break...

I didn't see Dee, but I guess we'll wait until next week to find out...Either way, by getting this much exposure, why wouldn't a TV station or other cable Sports show give either one a shot...
