so has agent smith (don't know his real name for some reason) taken the lead from harrison ford for being in the biggest combined trilogies of all time? harrison having been in star wars (the good trilogy) and indiana jones. agent smith will be in the matrix and LOTR trilogies. obviously harrison plays bigger parts in them, but can you beat LOTR and the matrix, since both appear they will not have any dropoff and will be fantastic when their respecitve #3's are done. since i'm not that well versed in movie history, has anyone else been in 2 trilogies with this type of success?
I loved the movie but was pissed off at the theatre (off Weslayan). I was at the 10:40 showing, and they messed up and chopped the intro fight scene. Worst of all is that they didn't rewind it. I loved the movie. My only complaint is that is was much more lovey-dovey than the first one, and they talked too damn much. I hate that I missed the trailer. Can anyone who saw it tell a bruh what happened?
holy... ****ing... ****... This is the best movie I have ever seen. The Fight scenes kicked the ass of anything I HAVE EVER SEEN ANYWHERE. I'll warn you, if you thought the 1st one was hard to get, you're going to maybe want to bring a dictionary or a computer nerd along with you for this one. THIS MOVIE IS INCREDIBLE
There was this one guy at my theater with a full black trench coat on, it was cool. And this one fat white dude had a Steve Francis throwback jersey on! I was so shocked I was tempted to knock him out when the lights went out and steal it. The guy sitting next to me was annoying because he kept laughing or making noises at like everything like he understood it. but nothing could take away from the awesomeness of the movie.
How to sum up the Matrix: Ridiculously bad, and yet ridiculously good at the same time. Yet so ridiculously good, that the good ridiculously outweighs the bad. Top 15 movie of all time in my book. Such fantastic uniqueness is refreshing.
You pretty much said what Roger Ebert did. WTF was up with Ebert "There are too many black people in Zion" haha, Zion is a ghetto!
I actually liked that it wasn't just all white people in the movie (not to take anything away from white people.) Refreshing that all races were represented. But I noticed that during the dancing, it seemed that all the girls looked like they were straight out of a Neptunes video. Not that I'm complaining! 4 people's cell phones went off during the movie. FOUR ****in people. What the hell is wrong with these kids with their cell phones that sing some rap song while rapidly flashing blue and red lights? Is that absolutely necessary? I missed the trailer too, damn it.
I'm so pissed that I missed the trailer. Damn it!!!!!! I wish someone would have posted it here before I left. Then again, I really had to use the pisser when it ended. I loved the movie. I also thought it was bad ass to see Roy Jones Jr. in it. I was like "that's freakin Roy Jones Jr." Girl: "who's Roy Jones Jr.?" There were a lot of action scenes, but I never tired of them...too freakin awesome. I need to watch this again to catch all the words and try to figure out all the philosophy. I know it's there. And contrary to what Ebert said about the first movie, there are some legitimate ways to analyze it as art like what people do to Hamlet. I know it isn't the intention of the W. brothers, but still, you can pull stuff from the plot to make valid arguments as to how the movie is about how "the self" exists outside one's self (Matrix I). I loved Neo fighting hundreds of agent Smiths. And thre freeway scene was spectacular. For me, the plot never dragged, contrary to some of my company...silly girls. Some just don't see the Matrix the way I do. And I'm an idiot, so others probably understand it even better.
So...the computer animation was minimal, or just so good that it looked almost real? Just curious. I have tickets for Saturday.
Could you explain that a little further, without giving anything away of course. What was really bad about and what parts where really good. I have to wait till monday until I can see it. Damn the man.
Part of my theory as to why the beginning seemed to drag was that it seemed a great deal of the scenes and lines they showed in the previews all happened early in the movie. I think that is because they didn't want to take the risk of giving anything away by accidentally showing something they shouldn't from later on. But to me, the whole movie was great, and I am glad they took some time to further develop characters (in Zion near the beginning) rather than just put in as much fighting as possible.
I liked it alot. It gets even more confusing though, lol. Like someone mentioned earlier, hard to match part 1 because it was so ground breaking. I have to see itagain (sober) before I "get it." Took me awhile to get part 1 as well.
I found the beginning of this movie to be extremely dull. Good thing for Agent Smith showing up, from that point on the movie slowly built in suspense coming to a pretty cool ending in my opinion. This is a great movie as long as you don't expect it to be better than the first. You have to remember that the first movie was a stand alone movie, while the second movie was made with the full anticipation of a third movie, so of course it's not going to be nearly as complete as the first... Great movie, as far as follow up movies go, it's nowhere near Two Towers...
As I understand it, the first movie was written with sequels in mind. I heard (or read) somewhere that the Wachowski brothers had a general plot line for all three movies as they wrote the first one.
i saw it, but i can't tell if it's as good as the first or not. it's the kind of movie where you can't tell all that was put into it until you see it a few times. anyway, I WENT TO SEE THE MOVIE AS MORPHEUS! matrix-esque sunglasses, black trenchcoat, black vest, black shirt, black cufflinks, black leather pants, black combat boots, black socks,... black underwear. morpheus: bald black guy me: bald black guy i know... not really a stretch. actually got a few compliments... and of course others laughed. luckily, i went with several coworkers so i didn't look like the dork that i really am. i'll put up pictures... probably tomorrow.
I saw a bunch of guys dressed as either Morpheus or Agents, so don't feel like too much of a dork. You were not alone, esp at the Edwards on I-10. Sweet flick. The talking was a bit too much at first, but then I realized that its all a setup for #3. I waited for the trailer for #3. Those credits were so friggin long. What was with that orgasm cake.....weird.
Lots of it, and lots of special affects. However, other than the Neo launch into "Superman" mode (an obvious set up for the video game), the techniques were recycled, and much less carefully done. More of a "look what we can do" than an attempt to do it right. Many of the fights actually looked like a video game. The 'sex scene' was a bad MTV video. The scene with a fight on the back of the 18-wheeler, from a visual perspective, was awful -- the worst in the movie. Imagine taking scenes from one of those tornado hunter films -- grainy, shaking, dark skies, a little out of focus, and pointed in random directions. Then you add a green screened fight on top of that footage -- perfectly clear, little shaking and little or no wind. Add a few cutaways to some stuntmen standing on an actual 18 wheeler shot from a distance with a helicopter. Of course, I didn't care for either movie, but the second was much worse. The special effects and origional philosopy carried the first movie. That was lacking from this one. They tried too hard to merge 'deep' philosopy, and 'WAY KUUL" fight scenes -- two perspectives that are difficult to put together well.
Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes!!!! OHHHHHH............... It was that good. I saw it yesterday at the noon show, it was crowded but not packed. I plan to see it again, maybe twice more. It was a bit slow at times, but still extremely good. dc sports - welcome to the minority.
