Another possibility is Rudy Gay, who I hate, but with Brewer going to Memphis, the writing might be on the wall for Gay this offseason.
I'm all for pursuing Bosh, and I think the Rockets can make a run at him, but you're suggesting we give Toronto our least desirable assets. Surely Brooks or Scola, or both, would have to be part of the deal.
He is restricted, right? No way he is going anywhere for a LONG time then. Nor will he accept a 1 year deal just to become unrestricted...
For Bosh it's going to be Aaron Brooks + Scola + Battier + the Nicks Picks + Plus our future 2nd rounder.. This is the type of deal that will actually have Toronto listen... They would balk at us for at least not including Aaron + PF replacement in Scola... Scola isn't really needed since Bosh would be here.. And we wouldn't want that much money tied up in both PF slots.. Aaron isn't going to be the same type of offensive player because we would have 3 go to guys in Martin, Yao + Bosh... Why would we give Aaron more FGA if we had those 3? He would have to reduce his role because we would have 3 go to guys.. We have all seen how much Lowry can have on our guys and how much better he distributes the ball. With DM at the helm he can definitely find a serviceable backup PG (Probably from our D-League). Battier it's time for him to go.. His offensive #s have been in decline and would give the Raptors and expiring contract.. The picks would just just help in offsetting any other teams offers.. This is the type of package people.. Stop day dreaming on scrubs for Bosh. We are going after Bosh and I've been saying it along.
Bosh will be a great fit.....before our trade for Kmart. You need someone down low to complement our backcourt duo of Brooks and Kmart. As well as someone that can protect the rim due to the lack of defense. Same reason I say no to Amare as well. 2 players that prefer to shoot than doing their stuff down low and 2 players that do not actually give you a defensive presence. I would much rather trade for a Tyson Chandler or Emeka Okafor to complement those 2 players.
do you think we're going to HAVE TO include aaron brooks? i really hate to see the guy go but i could also see him being traded just cause we'll have so much scorers on the lineup already. lowry would probably fit better but I just dont wanna see brooks go. Lowry/??? Martin/Budinger Ariza/??? Bosh/Hill/Hayes Yao/Andersen
For some reason... I'm getting the same feeling this may be preemptive move in order to land Bosh down the road also... and then we'll win it all... the whole damn thing... World Wide Champions of The World... your Houston Rockets... Yao Ming comes back with a vengeance... Bosh traded from Canada eh and resigns long term deal... Martin lighting up the scoreboard... Ariza wins Defensive Player of The Year... Champions of the Universe... Les Alexander storms the court and puts Morey aka God on his shoulders... and sings "WEEEEE ARREEE THE CHAMPIONNSSSS MY FRIENDS AND WE'LL KEEP ON FIGHTING TILL THE ENND!! DUN DUN DUNNN!!!" your Houston Rockets... <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sogKUx_q7ig&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sogKUx_q7ig&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0xcc2550&color2=0xe87a9f" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
To me, sign and trades are fascinating because the dealing team often is going to have a hard time dictating terms of a trade. Depending on where the guy wants to go, many times the barrier isn't what other teams are offering, but simply can you offer more value in what you send back than the team would get if they let the player walk (maybe freeing up cap space to give to someone else, maybe not). If Bosh says, I will go to Houston and nowhere else, the trade has to be better than the opportunity if Toronto lets him walk. If Bosh says, I am willing to accept a deal to these four places, then the team gets the chance to create that competitive market and get a better return. Not knowing Bosh's perspective, the main thing at this point for any trade here is do the salaries match? Once we know Bosh's view, then we can have a better idea how much we would have to offer.
Stoudemire or Bosh would be good with our team I believe we could win it all either way..Whoever leaves us with the most pieces and cost the least we should get imo
Not sure if Bosh has indicated what type of team he would go to, but the Rockets are custom-built for him. He could live close to home in a state with no income tax and on a team with 2 equal-level players in Yao & Martin. My relatives up in Canada seem to be pretty confident that they can hold onto Bosh, but I have my doubts. If Bosh makes it clear that he's leaving, then they'll be smart to get what they can in a sign & trade.
They'd put them both on the floor, one would play C and the other PF. Both of those guys are big enough. Remember Bosh is from Dallas born and raised. I would hate to see him go there but I have to admit they seem like a more likely SnT target if Bosh is only picking one team. If he puts up a list and we're on it, we could probably outbid them, but I don't want to give up Aaron Brooks. Why trade a (still rising) top 5 point guard for a (peaked) top 5 power forward when you already have a perfectly suitable 14/9 guy at the position?
You guys are wrong, we are getting Chris Paul next year. Paul will ask for a trade to leave the sucking Hornet. Our line up Paul/Lowry Martin Ariza Scola/Hill Yao
If we let Aaron go in a trade, I propose bring in Llull this summer, sign Travis Outlaw, and draft Hassan Whiteside, and possibly re-up Armstrong(depending on how he does for the rest of the season)....So it would look like this... Rockets 2010/2011 Line Up: Lowry /Llull (the L&L boys 2.0 ) Martin/ Budinger Ariza/ Outlaw/ Jeffries Bosh/ Hill / Hayes/ Andersen Yao/ Whiteside/ Armstrong --RB
NOOOOOO this should be the lineup  PG - Brooks/Lowry SG - Martin/Joe Johnson  SF - Ariza/ Budinger/Jefferies PF - Amare/Scola C - Yao/Andersen/Hayes
We are set up for a S&T of a max player now. Brooks, Budinger, Hill, Taylor are all young players with loads of potential. Throw in our first round pick in next years draft, NY's picks we got in trade and our expiring contracts and you have a recipe for a max player. Point Guard Aaron Brooks, Kyle Lowry, Temple Shooting Guard Kevin Martin, Jermaine Taylor Small Forward Trevor Ariza, Shane Battier, Jared Jeffries, Chase Budinger Power Forward Luis Scola, Jordan Hill, Joey Dorsey Center Yao Ming, Chuck Hayes, David Andersen, Hilton Armstrong Whether a team wants to rebuild or bring in quality veterans to make a run we have the ability to make it happen. I fully expect Bosh or Omare here next year.
IF Morey is still our GM, nothing it's impossible. It really boils down to our PF hole. We got pretty much 1-3 and 5 covered for now. Scola is great but who knows. Bosh could be better. don't forget morey sticks to his plan. so he was looking and acquiring Amare before so he was definitely looking at a 4 for the rockets.
I think Bosh is the guy too! I would love Amare but IMO Bosh is better just because he doesn't have the injury history. Isn't he younger as well? It would be great if we could work the deal that we offered Phoenix but can someone check me on this... I don't think a team can sign a RFA (Scola, Lowry or NY and Lee? not sure if he is RFA?) and then trade them. Isn't there a certain amount of time that we need to wait to trade a RFA after resigning them? This will prevent Scola or Lowry being moved if we do indeed resign them as suggested by Morey. The good thing is that normally in a S&T teams are kinda over the barrel at that point and don't have much bargaining power. Due to the fact he is a UFA he can pretty much decide where he wants to go and they (Toronto) will be happy just getting something of value back in return.
