awesome... "There's no evidence that the destroyed tapes depict..." Really now? Wonder why there's no evidence. That's just it... personally I don't want to equate myself, or my country, with those that would deliberately torture and murder innocents or deliberately trample established doctrines of civility. Knowing your enemy and becoming your enemy are two different things.
who recruited the 9/11 terrorists, or even those who bombed the WTC in '93. was that somehow in proactive response to future Bush admin waterboardings?
no, really i am (i can't even spell "stpuid"). what was your point, that all presidents have contributed to global jihad recruitment; that none except bush have, or that you just wanted to seize this opportunity to take a gratuitous swipe at W? really, i need it explained to me- i'm that dumb.
Good god. People like you will be first in line to get microchipped and take the trains to your FEMA camp while praising your neo-fascist government.
FAIL. Actually, this whole thread reeks of fail. This country and it's fearful, ignorant citizenry is becoming a joke on itself.
I know understand the phrase, the meek shall inherit the earth. First we're cockstrong and then somehow we decided to PC ourselves into pussyhood.
That is factually incorrect. The waterboarding of KSM actually stopped the useful information he was giving us. He had already given the information that saved lives. He did that through rapport building techniques of interrogation. Once the waterboarding starting the information he gave no new usable information and stopped giving valid information. Of course the misleading information received from torture wastes time and resources while those misleads are being tracked down. http://www.vanityfair.com/magazine/2008/12/torture200812 Waterboarding is torture, and it doesn't save lives.
Is it manly to torture people even though it doesn't work at getting useful information, wastes time and resources tracking down false information, and ends up leading to the deaths of U.S. soldiers? If avoiding that is PC, then I will take PC. I've never been a PC person in my life, and I hate PC, but it beats the kind of stupidity that believes torture is a good idea after we've seen the evidence that it doesn't work.
Not all of them. We know from one interrogator in Iraq that members of the resistance would not have joined except for the torture that went on. The only reason they joined and attacked our troops was because of the torture. The torture cost the U.S. lives. Torture isn't the only reason people joined, there are hundreds of reasons why people might join causes against the U.S. But if you remove one of the reasons you remove a segment of the terrorists' personnel pool, and that's a good thing. Meanwhile you have Bush's legal staff claiming the President doesn't have to follow the 1st and 4th amendments of the constitution. What a disgrace
torture in Iraq was an isolated event, Nobody outside of those walls knew what went on. The reason people started attacking our troops is because we was kicking the ever living crap out of their friends fighting against us. Not because they "heard" about torture... get real dude
