BTW, on MSNBC and CNN, contrary to 2001's objections, are now calling it as clearly an Isaeli attack on the crowd. World leaders across the planetand humanitarian groups are condemning Israel... ...except, true to form, here at home, where Bush issued a statement saying he is troubled by these occurences, and asks for everyone to use restraint. As the Washington Post reporter being interviewed by CNN said, this comes as absolutely no surprise, as pretty much everyone acknowledges that the US is always the last to criticize Israel, and always the first to excuse Israeli actions. Who wants to bet that the US vetoes any UN condemnations of Israel, no matter what?
It's a good think most of you liberals weren't around during WWII. If you think 11,000 civilian casualties is high, then you frankly don't have much experience with war. What would you have thought about the firebombing of German cities or the nuclear bombing of Japanese cities? -- two events that helped contribute to the end of the war. The coalition has taken great precautions to avoid collateral damage, despite an enemy that fights and hides behind soft targets and civilians. Avoiding civilian casualties is impossible. Mistakes will always happen. Some of you act like this was purposeful or reckless. All of you liberals refuse to give the Americans the benefit of the doubt. This is what is sickening. I wonder how life looks through your liberal power struggle lens?
Yeah ... just that this war didn't have to happen and was started for no reason by Bush. WW2 ... we were trying to stop the aggression of another tyrant, this time around the roles seem to be reversed. I realize I shouldn't try to get into it with you ... but I don't think anyone on here is that naive to say that there should be no civilian casualites in combat, but the number is still astounding, 11K on one side is pretty damn alarming. And all you can comment in this thread is MB's casualty count ... nothing else in this thread jumps out at you as sickening?
A) A lot more is excused when defending yourself from a nation that's declared war on you than when you've chosen to invade another country based on lies and, ironically, for their good. Why is it that people cite military examples with no real understanding of the difference between a war of defense and a war of volition? B) As Greenstock acknowledged last night, the deaths as a result of this war far exceed the deaths Iraqis were experiencing under Saddam during the past several years.
Didn't one of the reports mention that while the chopper fired near the demonstration, the explosion was caused by that fire hitting explosives hidden in a house by Palestinians?
re:supermac In one interview I read, the Israeli military press liaison was blaming either Palestinian planted explosives in the road or deliberate Palestinian attacks on their own people.
No. WHat was mentioned was that an Isralei official speculated that the area was home to militants, therefore it could have been lined with explosives, therefore a missile may have triggered hidden explosives. No reprt of this happening, no support for the theory, just an opinion offered by an Israeli official with differs from the leap of faith that missiles/tank shells fired=explosions=deaths.
There are so many things wrong with this post, I can't begin... Not joking; the responses from pro-war posters in here to the latest developments has really lessened my view of us as a people.
are we a people? the obvious goal of this administration is to turn the whole world into palestine/israel and they are doing a damn good job.
The Boston Massacre... total of what 4 people killed. Its all good when we use propoganda, but its retarted to accuse others of doing the same.
No. You conservatives are on a roll the last few days: 1. Rejoice at death of four Kent State students? Check 2. Hope that Michael Moore has a heart attack? Check 3. Dismiss an Iraqi child losing their head since an American was beheaded? Check Disgusting, yet not really surprising.
Rejoice at death of four Kent State students? do you think the Steelers would have been so good if one of those students was Jack Lambert? Hope that Michael Moore has a heart attack is he that fat author woith the beard? Dismiss an Iraqi child losing their head since an American was beheaded? actually were are behind 2-1 if you include Daniel Pearl....but i don;t know if it was a complete decapitation so I din;t count it in my stats
There are many things wrong with this post, but I believe just for the sake of arguing facts and not getting into peronal attacks, the biggest flaw would be ignorance. 1-1 indicates that each side has scored 1 beheading against their oponent. That child at the wedding had absolutely zero to do with the beheading of an American. That child was innocent of the crime, and not connected. Using the scoreboard analogy: If the Rockets are playing a game in SA against the spurs, but Cuttino ends up in Dallas and scores a bucket on the Mavs home court, the basket doesn't add to the total in the Rockets/Spurs game. In fact people could rightly be angry at Cat for not concentrating on the game at hand. Yet in a much far different way we have NJ Rocket cheering for Cat to score his points in Dallas, and not even knowing that it doesn't help the Rockets win the game they are playing against the Spurs. Learn the rules of the game and who the opponents are and it might all be a little clearer.
