Its very sad to see some of you people's Internet Egos and political bickering taking over a thread about such a tragic event. People who volunteered to serve our country and were about to be deployed were murdered by a man bearing their same uniform days before shipment. Have a little bit of damn respect and go measure the size of your Virtual Dicks somewhere else. My deepest condolences to the families of the soldiers/civilians that were taken from us or injured today. My prayers will be with them all during this dark time.
Indeed. Apparently there were red flags. Linked from the Chronicle. I posted the full article in the D&D as I didn't know if it was appropriate here. Tragic all around. God Bless America.
Am I only one who smiled when I heard that? Death is letting these guys off the hook. I prefer they live a loooong life and suffer a miserable existence.
Put a bullet in your own head. Show some respect jackass. He evidently joined as a grunt then went back to Services medical school that accounts for his age. He tried to get out of the military citing harassment after 9/11 even offering to reimburse the government for his schooling but no dice. Sounds pretty disturbed, his family said the military was "his life" and had no friends, yet was evidently quite disgruntled with his treatment in the military and deployment in the Middle East. Sounds like a Full Metal Jacket type of situation.
So your telling me the biggest installation in the US, an Army base at that, doesnt take security highly? Im sorry but after 9 years in the Navy I call BS. Just because said bf works there doesnt mean he is on the same security level. For instance. While I was in, we'd have MA's(Master at Arms) at the gate and while they didnt have loaded guns or even maybe ammo on them, thier post sure as hell did. Whats the point of a sentry if they cant defend what they are guarding? And being an Army base they would probably have higher security then a Navy base. We had civilians inside our base as well but that doesnt change the fact they are Govt employees. Who knows. Maybe this Biggest Army installation is weaker then the ones I have been too. Maybe they are a joke at security. And if thats the case Lord thank you for not have letting me be stationed at an Army base.
Have to agree that military base security it pretty tight. Since 9/11, security has been ramped up even more. There are still certain days you can get on the AFB where I live without military ID, but its few and far between. I just think about the Air Show, where they bused everyone onto the base, and you could see that they had snipers on top of the buildings, just in case something happened. Its just very hard to defend against your own.
how would it deter it? i know we're not in D&D, but this guy was living in a state that eats the death penalty for breakfast. it didn't deter jack crap. clearly matching violence for violence over and over again is not working.
