I beat the game yesterday. Let me just say that I felt the gameplay was the best in the series, liked the ability to upgrade your points in into subcategories within your ability. I thought the missions were the best of the series. The removed the annoying stuff like MAKO in ME1 and the planet scanning in ME2. Like I said the missions and story were the best out of all, they made the fight epic. Now, the final level wasn't as good as in ME2, in ME2 the idea that many of your members could die depending on your choices made it really cool. There was none of that but the final goodbyes to your crew was really touching. No final boss fight but the ME2 boss sucked anyway. Yeah the ending sucked, there should have been 2 endings though. Perfect paragon where you are able to fire the crucible and save the galaxy, you walk away and survive, everyone is happy. The non-perfect paragon in which you have to sacrifice yourself to activate the crucible, you die but everyone is saved. Then the perfect renegade where you assume control of the reapers and become the most powerful man in the galaxy, and the non-perfect paragon where you still take control but are unable to survive so you are just like a spirit. Basically there should have been a way for shepard to survive and hang with all his squadmates again. The rest of the game besides the ending though I thought was great. BioWare created an awesome setting, and it's great because this is really a character-driven video game, moreso than about the plot. They wrote some great characters and you actually cared about your squadmates, and the interactions with them are the most rewarding parts of the game imo. I just wish Miranda was a squad member again, instead of Cortez or that annoying Ashley. Same with Thane, dude was total badass.
You should definitely get it, gameplay and story-wise it's even better than ME 1&2, one of the best games in recent history if you count out the ending, plays like a movie or somethin.

Good choice man, you'll absolutely love it. If they hadn't screwed up the endings this game would be one of the modern classics.
I'm waiting for some DLC's before I download mine. Also some cheats heh heh. I can't play this thing legit.
Another disappointing thing was the overuse of matte paintings instead of actual CGI backgrounds. You could tell even in the opening cinematic the reapers didn't blend in to the static background. BioWare got rushed to push this title out, there is no other excuse other than that.
There's a "narrative" difficulty option. Super easy. Much easier to kill enemies, even the tough ones and you're practically invincible, you don't even have to stay in cover all that much.
you mean the RPG mode? Yeah I tried that out after I beat the game, it was so easy. You don't have to stay in cover at all actually, can beat the game in about 7 hours (most of it is cause cutscenes that you can't skip) by just rushing through the levels.
I played it on normal, which is supposedly harder in ME3 than it was in the past. Like Normal is the old veteran or whatever they call the 2nd highest difficulty setting. That's how I played until that spot near the end with waves and waves of Brutes and Banshees. I'd used up all my med paks and when I died, it loaded at a spot where I still didn't have health. At that spot, I lowered the difficulty. Of course, I didn't realize that the waves just keep coming and coming until you hit that button. I had probably gotten far enough on normal difficulty to continue and just didn't realize it.
Wait so was this "narrative" difficulty available on ME2 also? and does this difficulty level have an effect on the game? Like will I be missing some choices and cut scenes?
Had to load up my game to check. There's a gameplay menu that lets you set combat difficulty. The easiest setting is "narrative", intended for people who are really only playing for the story and couldn't give less of a **** about the combat. Then there's a narrative menu where you can set your conversation mode to full decisions (where you control your conversations) or no decisions (where the game chooses your response for you). So you can set the difficulty super easy without losing control over other aspects of the game like your conversations or how you level up your Shepard and squadmates. I don't know if the narrative difficulty was in previous games. I just heard that ME3 normal difficulty was harder than ME or ME2 normal difficulty.
Thanks, brah. I will definitely be doing narrative then. I do care about the combat aspect, it's just that I tend to suck at it when doing it legit. I wish I could rep you now, but spreading it around can be a beech.
Played just a little bit of it and it is amazing so far (I love the beginning of games almost all the time :grin I have a few questions: What class should I choose? I chose infiltrator in 2 and I started as soldier in this one. I am not very far in so I am willing to start over. Also, what should I upgrade first because I start off with 50ish points?
I continued with Infiltrator, it's deadly in combination with your Tactical Cloak, Operational Mastery and Fitness. You get tons of bonus damage on sniper and headshot damage with these, killing enemies in one or two shots with ease. Max these out first and then continue with what you like. In the Fitness tree I chose all options that give you additional health and shield bonuses.I have em maxed out, am lvl 44 right now and have 54 points left to spend. You get a massive amounts of points in this game, so choose how you like. People in the Bioware Community prefer Disruptor Ammo and then Bonus Powers like Energy Drain or Defensive Matrix. Makes you deadly. Spend points on Singularity for Liara, also max out the last two powers. I spent points on Squad Warp Ammo with her, it gives you additional damage on almost everything. In general, I always choose the Durability/Recharge or Power bonuses when choosing from the trees, they're more effective than the ones that increase the area of damage. Hope that helps a bit.
Just to add, don't buy the additional weapons, you don't need em. Same with armor, you will find everything you need on missions. Save the credits for the Spectre weapons(Black Widow for Infiltrator) and spends some on upgrades like additional damage, accuracy, less weight, better reflexes.
