    Uh, forget the Vipers.

We need his 70% TS and 58% 3P on the Rockets.

So basically Stone plans on giving him a contract but he can't right now because cheap Tilman?

    sigh

I don’t think any team has ever converted a two-way to an NBA contract before the player exhausted his allowable games played. Why would you ever do that?

The better he plays the higher his potential value goes up. That is my guess? You can lock him in for absolute lowest contract possible for probably 3 years. You let him play, get confidence and potentially get really good and other teams start looking at him which further implants in his mind he might be able to pull more than minimum then all the sudden you have a problem.

We'd have to cut someone to sign Mason Jones right now. That's why teams never do this, until they exhaust their games. Plus, the player is an RFA.

recall, we had to cut House to sign Clark from a 2-way in 2018, then sweat out 3 days of waiver wire to see if he'd be poached.

what are you scared of. We will offer him a contract (we've done this twice before) and if he doesn't take it, he's RFA. But for now, he's an extra roster spot as a 2-way player. What? Would you cut Dante Exum right now, rather than hold onto him as an expiring contract to look to trade?

If we were to cut someone now, why wouldn't you sign Gerald Green back, while using the extra rosters spots that 2ways provide?

So, have I answered all your questions about 2-ways and how GMs use them? Or are you still in search of more Tilman joke opportunities?

Exum’s contract may be useful in the trade deadline. I’d cut/trade Kurucs.

Why, when you don't have to, yet? And why wouldn't you sign Gerald Gerald back even if you did.

I don't think any GM has ever signed a 2-way prior to them exhausting their games.

2-ways provide too much roster flexibility that outweighs any fear that Mason Jones won't take an offer later in the season, or if not, lose him in RFA.

Flexibility is overrated. Jones is a keeper and we should lock him up asap.

This has been answered for you as clear as it can be. How is flexibility overrated? That is one of the main gripes Rockets fans have had under Morey for years.

I just don’t understand why risk losing him just for the sake of keeping Rodions Kurucs. You let him hit the market some stupid teams might offer some ridiculous poison pill contract.

So do you think the Rockets are done making moves before the trade deadline?

How will he hit the market he is locked for the entire season then becomes a RFA? Rox will be well below the tax line next year they can take any "poison pills" thrown at Jones unless somebody offers him the max or something. Its a meaningless worry.

Jones will not hit market until next season.

Between now and then, he will be offered a contract extension.

Would you be happy if that happens? Knowing that you could have lock him up to a reasonable deal right now. His value is increasing with every game he plays.

    Let’s just agree to disagree.

    He isnt even playing rn.

There's not enough roster spots to sign him you'd have to cut somebody to lock him up for no reason. Cutting somebody is a hit to Rox assets and what's the benefit? There is none, just some irrational fear he would leave when we have all his rights.

Remember when everybody was saying House should be locked up at midlevel during his rookie year cuz otherwise some other team would steal him? What happened after?

I would suspect that Stone would probably be trying to move Exum and Kurucs at least at the deadline....
