I think this is the first MCU show with Bog Iger back at the Disney helm. I expect it to fall somewhere between Loki and Falcon & WS.
Cast is stacked... ...but for me, it's hard to care about any of these characters. The relationship between Talos and Gi'ah doesn't really resonate with me. The new villain dude doesn't really strike me as a "big boss" threat. I know - it's only one episode in. But after Endgame and with all these MCU duds since then, it's a bit hard for me to engage with these 'street-level' shows anymore. Spoiler Wow, they killed off Maria Hill, I guess. It's not as though Nick Fury needs more motivation to accomplish a goal, so I'm not sure what they needed to kill off Hill for. And Ross is apparently dead or MIA, as Martin Freeman is only a guest star. Death of Maria Hill should have been at this (miniseries?)'s end - not at the start.
damn, I didn’t even know this was out I just don’t have the anywhere near the level of excitement for Marvel that I used to
THANK YOU! This is sort of common sense approach to artistic interpretation that keeps me coming back to this message board for more.
Spoiler Nah too soon?? Seems like a moment to beam her to the mother ship so she can do damage with her fake death. Or maybe remaining appearances will be flashbacks on How She Met Nick Fury
First episode was decent. Pacing was a little rushed to set up the overall story but it was still a slow burn and I’m glad they got to the point. Due to the Skrulls being able to shapeshift and it being a spy thriller, I think the whole thing will end up being a huge mind**** and will require a rewatch. I already have my theories but will keep them to myself.
I question Maria's first scene. She asks the man to "freeze" who just killed who she thought was a superspy co-worker. Shouldn't she just have shot him dead on the spot. I'm not saying she was a skrull, I just didn't buy her reaction. Thought it was interesting that the opening credits were created all by AI... No Humans. And I liked it. Overall, the first episode was good. But I still see it as a challenge for us to watch an entire season not trusting who anyone is and what their motivation might be. Yet, it's held up so far. So good start.
