I'm probably one of the few that thinks the post-credits scene actually sets Isaac/Moon Knight up for a transition to the movies. Now the key alters can be Marc/Jake which would be pretty interesting on the silver screen because we can probably see more violence in that format.
I thought the series was okay. Episode 5 was definitely the highlight for me. The action has been done better in the movies with A-tier heroes/production. But real talk: Team Khonshu or Team Ammit?
Hate sounding glib, but that sounds like a 6 hour commercial. Ironically, an extended B-grade 6 hr series would've worked more for Eternals, almost like a Snyder cut where the poop is Lovingly put on a bed of rose petals.
Nothing about this show makes me want to see MK on the big screen. A cameo like DD did in No Way Home maybe. But Moon Knight was pretty boring IMO. If I dont see him again I wouldn't care.
Definitely not one of Marvel's marquee characters but they've managed to make lesser characters (Ant-Man, Black Panther) more popular onscreen than their comic book counterparts before. I think it was just the script and the low production value.
Watching the episodes 1 at a time and with little connection to the broader MCU, i thought the series was alright. Isaac did a great job with the non-Moonknight scenes. The (super)hero action scenes and plot were fairly generic for the MCU. It was much better as a psychological thriller than action venue.
If MK were a movie, I imagine it have to be gritty like the original Blade with elements of the latest Batman (or at least Nolan level "dark"). I mean...if they wanted to rip off Batman, might as go all the way and go for broke? A lower budget feel would do much better than Marvel's giant SFX plot eraser for the last and middle acts. You save the SFX sequences for Avengers/Civil War crossover movies where he gets 2-3 minutes of "blackout time" and maybe insert him ealier as a "detective" where he says 1-2 edgy or cutting quips about the main heroes and guide the plot of the 2.5 hr crossover movie... ...making the fans want more of a minor character in the movie is like, like a teaser/commercial for its own MK movie/series. Kinda wasteful minutes planning if you want billion dollar gross movies.
I couldn't agree with you more on Eternals. I've said it before, this series really missed good action. MK is a 'street level' hero who fights bad guys, much like Batman. Maybe they wanted to steer away from that sort of comparison, but who ****ing cares? If it's good and enjoyable, people will watch it.
Nah, there was good action...the cameraman just followed the wrong guy who blacked out whenever things got good. Better luck next time?* *I'm seeing this more often in action streaming series, where not only is a 3 episode "network" arc stretched into one 8-10 episode binge-worthy season, but the Good Bits you typically expect are now McGuffins for "edgy" or "experimental" filler plotlines. The action you expected in one episode is now stuffed at the end of season with sometimes movie-quality budget payoffs and tries to make up for a poorly executed season because there wasn't a planned buildup like Breaking Bad. They're like camel humps where 10-15 minute set pieces are stuffed in between at least 90 mins worth of dead time or mostly useless character diversions. I admit D+ breaks the bank on budgets for their franchise series and it's a lot worse on other streaming networks. The flash forward intro is a terrible overly used trope for this. Not only are most now nothing burgers, but with the episodic stream format, they're like sliders of filler-time meant to distract you that you're wasting more time binging for the same emotional value as a multi-part network series. Just my feelings, since these new streaming networks now value overall "engagement time" more than individual series ratings.
So the CGI looked pretty bad from the trailers of this show. Was I right or wrong about this, from those of you who have watched the whole series?
I hope not. Oscar Isaac isn’t signed for any more shows or movies so who knows where it will go. I hope to see more, though. There is so much potential with the Egyptian gods and their avatars. There are some fan theories that at least the Egyptian gods will show up in Thor 4. It would be cool if MK showed up, too.
The beginning of the season interested me. The middle bored me. The end (last 2 eps) were coo. I can live without more action, whatever movie he eventually shows up in, there will be action.
I think he will make an appearance in the next Black Panther. I’m not versed on all the Marvel comics so maybe this is a known thing, but perhaps The Black Panther is also an avatar for that Panther god. If that’s the case, when it comes to identifying the next Panther, we might see some familiar faces.
I guess that can tie in with the Thor movie too. Helluva lot of greek and other god references in the trailer. MK to scrubby tho.
egyptian gods meet nordic gods. don't think marvel has a greek god story, that's more with dc. would be cool tho to have several mythologies meet. egypt gods meet nordic gods meet african gods meet greek gods meet hindu gods.
Marvel has the Greek Pantheon. Hercules is a regular in the Avengers and Ares pops up as a villain from time to time. Watch the Thor 4 trailer.
