Tom Hiddleston's LOKI Series Confirmed For Disney+ Streaming Service; Will Be Set In The MCU In addition to announcing a new Star Wars series, Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger has officially confirmed plans for a Loki series set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that will star Tom Hiddleston... Rohan Patel | 11/8/2018 Filed Under: "Thor" Source: The Walt Disney Company During a live audio webcast for investors earlier today, The Walt Disney Company Chairman and CEO Bob Iger officially unveiled the name of the House of Mouse's upcoming streaming service, which will be called Disney+. The service is currently scheduled to launch in late 2019. As part of their announcement, Iger officially confirmed that Marvel Studios is indeed developing an original series for Disney+ centered on Loki, with Tom Hiddleston reprising his fan-favorite role as the God of Mischief. An official title hasn't been given, but expect to learn a whole lot more about the project when it goes into production sometime next year. Loki joins a pair of confirmed live-action Star Wars universe series, The Mandalorian and the Untitled Cassian Andor Project, as well as original series based on Monsters Inc. and High School Musical. Marvel Studios is also reportedly in the midst of developing a number of series for Disney+ based on some of their most popular supporting characters, including the Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and a Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) & Falcon (Anthony Mackie) team-up series. Since Iger opted not to mention either, it's probably safe to assume they're not as far along as Loki. Disney+ is also assembling a live-action series centered around a fan-favorite character from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Iger today confirmed that Marvel Studios is developing a series based on Loki, the god of mischief, to star Tom Hiddleston.
He died a few times in the movies. No one stays dead in comics. https://nerdist.com/a-brief-history-of-the-avengers-dying-in-the-comics/
It'll be interesting to see what kind of budget these shows get. IMO they both need BIG money to feel authentic.
Apparently Disney is planning to launch Disney+ late next year with quite a bang. They are going to leverage a lot of Marvel and Star Wars material with other stuff. I might actually be tempted to subscribe initially. Their biggest hurdle is to keep producing enough unique, quality material after the initial launch.
But didn't he die before the finger snap? Or am I remembering that wrong. I thought he died in the first scene.
What about all the Fox stuff (not just superhero franchises). When do we here about the role that stuff will play?
My view is having movies won't help them much. How many people will pay the monthly subscription for years on end primarily to rewatch Marvel and Star Wars movies? Not that many IMO. Fresh TV series are what will make or break Disney+.
The sfx looks $$$...like Mando LED backscreen $$$ You can see why Feige was snooty with the Netflix Marvels. They were so low budget in comparison, there were at least a couple garbage eps.
