Vision was wounded. The glaive incapacitated him. Scarlet Witch was winning her matchup until she had to save Vision. She couldn't do both.
Why didn’t they just cut off Thanos’ arm off with Strange’s portal? I mean I know the answer to that but it was such an obvious opportunity.
Better question: Spoiler Why did Quill hit Thanos in the face instead of just shooting him? He hesitated less to blaze his own dad after he found out he killed his mom, I'd like to think he would have merced him right there. Then again, what do I know?

Thanos was 1 on 1, plus he was casually walking up to Vision. If he really tried, he could've easily taken care of her. The fact that he wasn't threatened by Scarlet Witch destroying the stone speaks for itself. Against the Order, it was 2 v 1. She couldn't heal Vision while fighting off two attackers.
Finally i can start reading this thread. Why is Thanos so attached to the green girl? She tried to kill you 5 times and you're ok with it? That pissed me off.
She's like a real daughter to him. If you recall in GotG he said to Ronan, "and you alienated my favorite daughter Gamora" which made Nebula cringe. Spoiler Their relationship began from when she was what 3-4 and he obviously has had massive amounts of affection towards her since then. If the only thing you love in the world has to die and you throw it off a cliff in sacrifice...? that's making a huge statement of how far it is you're willing to go on this quest for full power.
We humans have never wielded this kind of full power so we dun know what Thanos the Alien is going through.
He raised her and views her as his daughter. People have a blind spot for their children, even their adopted children, especially when they are so powerful that the children pose no real threat to them. He probably viewed it as a child lashing out throwing a temper tantrum and nothing more. Spoiler That said, it must have bothered him a little bit since he wanted proof that she still loved him, which she provided him unintentionally when she thought she had killed him
Also, she grew up to be the "deadliest woman in the galaxy," which is probably the sort of thing that makes Thanos proud.
With or without the gauntlet? Does Thanos have the Black Order or the Chitari? Ultron has an army of robots? Vibranium Ultron? Haha, lots of variables there. Hard to say but I'd like to think Thanos. Hulk thrashed Ultron 1 on 1 and got thrashed by Thanos (granted he had the power stone technically but some people argue he didn't use it).
