If this is an itch they think we need scratched... they could be giving us exciting content like X-Force. Why this? This is Disney+ fodder. Not movie-worthy. Stop trying to squeeze every drop out of the lemon. Just unpackage the X-Men IP already. We'd rather see a Dr. Doom movie. How can they make me care about this movie? Change it to D+. Fire the writer. Hire the Veep writers. Put Deadpool alongside Elaine Benes. The rest of the cast is just supporting (like Veep). Give me Veep humor. No story. No action. Just people peeing on the abomination and farting on white nationalist captain america.
GOG was tied into the overarching storyline these guys are going to be the tentpole it would be like if GOG started before Iron Man. That's very different.
Thunderbolts was a good comic. I don't think they need to fill the team with people that were already in the MCU. Go ahead and introduce Songbird Moonstone, Goliath, etc. to team with Zemo. Guardians (or for that matter, Iron Man) proved that people will watch well made stuff even if it features characters most of the moviegoing public was not previously familiar with.
I never saw anything about Thunderbolts being the tentpole/center of the MCU going forward. That would be... surprising. I'll watch it but the casual audience might get turned off if they start releasing duds with no big draws. They really need to get to X-Men and Fantastic Four stuff with some good casting and overarching plots ASAP. MCU has felt pretty directionless since they blew their Infinity War load. It's unfortunate that Chadwick passed since he would've been one of the main stars going forward.
It would be weird if they didn’t pay off the Julia Lewis Dreyfus teases. I’d like to see this as sort of an origin story for a team of villains that eventually pays off with another Civil War type of matchup. I’d like to see Wyatt Russell sort of let loose a bit with the John Walker character. Maybe unwind him a bit and allow him to be more goofy like Star Lord who is fun to watch and could easily be someone to root against as an antagonist.
I like Harbor, Pugh, and Stan, but this is a lame lineup. The entire team is basically Captain America/Black Widow knockoffs.
I'm old enough to remember when Winter Soldier was an awesome character and a person whose combat abilities were at the level of Captain America. Now he's just the stupid sidekick. No Marvel character has had a steeper fall from prominence than him.
