Agree on both points. These are ultimately for an audience range starting with children, heavy handedness is fine for them (and literally how dialogue in every one of these movies is). Seems like people forget these stories are from literal comic books lol.

I'm starting to work my way through the Marvel movies after watching the Falcon/Winter Soldier series. Captain Marvel is one of the ones I have seen before, I would say it was on par with most of the universe. Seemed fine, nothing special.

Not sure why Captain Marvel has to be all women themed, but then there's Black Panther and Shang Chi so I guess they're obvious like that.

If she wasn’t stupid overpowered from out of nowhere then I could accept the character a bit even though she has zero charisma and is poorly written.

Nerfing Hulk and turning Captain Marvel into god-level power in Endgame was dumb. Hulk fights Thanos in Infinity War and gets wrecked in seconds. Captain Marvel puts up a fight against Thanos with the full infinity gauntlet....

It's good to be the universe's pivot.

i didn't remember what happened in the captain marvel movie like a week after watching it. quite possibly worse than ironman 2 & 3's lowest points.

had to rewatch parts of it for wandavis.

Just to chime in. For fun. I didn't hate the movie. It was fine. And as a character, maybe she's just OP for now. Maybe it's a setup.

The Skrulls though. They've always disinterested me.

They made them the good guys in the last movie, how are they going to flip them to the bad guys?

I couldn't stop laughing when Annette Bening started dancing to Nirvana. Took me completely out of the movie.

It's possible to recover with a better director and/or story for part 2. We'll see... Cheese Lady needs to act better and not be so wooden.

Isn't Captain Marvel that powerful in the comics?

Wow, if this is the only scene I ever watch from Captain Marvel 1, am I good to go for part II?

MCU powers are loosely based off the comics.

Depends on the comic, she's never been popular so they've rebooted her dozens of times trying to make people care and it's failed every time.

The most interesting thing the Carol Danvers Captain Marvel ever did was get her ass kicked by Rouge so bad she was left in a coma and Rouge permanently gained the ability to fly.
