Yep, the surprising thing for me was 80% stayed as well...I asked another co-worker who went at a different time, and she said nearly everyone left...

What made the movie work was the superb acting and the storyline, ..besides that my fav. part was when Ironman saved the innocent ones, blew up the tank, and took on the F22 raptor jets...

p.s. the previews got me pumped for Indy, and the new Batman and Hulk actually looks good as well...Gotta see the Myers funny movie when that comes out!...So far so good this summer...

Here a little news related to this movie.

    Feature Film Slate Update:

Marvel today updated its feature film slate strategy and plans for the next three years, locking in key release windows for its character franchises. In order to focus its attention on maximizing the success of an Iron Man sequel and the launch of Thor in the summer of 2010 and because Marvel believes that the summer is the optimal time to launch a new property, the Company will not release a self produced film in 2009. Marvel plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, Iron Man 2, on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of Thor on June 4, 2010. Additionally, Marvel is planting its feature film stakes for summer 2011 with an Avengers-themed summer – a two-picture project which will debut on May 6, 2011 with The First Avenger: Captain America (working title), followed by The Avengers in July 2011.

If that's the case, Marvel is doing it the right way. Setting up the most important members, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Captain America.

Over the course of the series, pretty much every hero in Marvel, and some of the villains, have been Avengers (especially if you count the 50 states initiative. The founding members though, were Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Ant-man (Hank Pym) and the Wasp.

My wife keeps asking me the same question whenever there's a new comic hero put onto the silver screen:

When will be the Wonder Woman's turn?

    Any idea?

Is the Ozzy song in this movie, or just on the soundtrack?

I always get mad when I hear a song on the trailer but then watch the movie and its not in there. They just buy it for the soundtrack and you only get to hear it ont he closing credits. Like "Miracle" and "We are the Champions".

Better be extremely patient. Warner has been a college course in what not to do with these franchises. They gave it to (Buffy) Joss Whedon a few years back, he took a long while with it to get it right, only to get into fights with the studio to the point that he walked out on it. Studio then decided to table it and have it spin off after the Justice League film. No surprise, the Justice League movie also fell into development limbo following the Writer's Strike, with some of the casting contracts allowed to lapse.

Batman vs Superman was supposed to happen forever, and Warner has now canceled its production after years of development hell.

Warner's big problem appears to be too many execs trying to be in charge at once, with few agreeing on anything or having a good idea on what to go for (ex. chasing young actors for Justice League to bring in the One Tree Hill audience, instead of caring about appeasing the comic fans). Very obvious how different things are with Warner vs Marvel Studios.

Marvel Studios Sets Four More Release Dates!
    Source: Marvel Entertainment
    May 5, 2008

Marvel Entertainment released their first quarter report to its shareholders this morning to coincide with the announcement about the success this past weekend of Marvel Studios' first production Iron Man, which grossed an estimated $104.2 million domestically and over $201 million worldwide. The announcement included an update of Marvel Studios' feature film slate with the already-rumored Iron Man 2 announced for a release on April 30, 2010, followed by three more movies for the summers of '10 and '11. Matthew Vaughn's Thor is set for a release on June 4, 2010, and The First Avenger: Captain America (the working title) will kick off the summer of 2011 on May 6, followed by the highly-anticipated and foreshadowed The Avengers scheduled for July 2011. (Edgar Wright's Ant-Man is also listed as being in development with no release date set.)

In a conference call this morning, Marvel Studios' David Maisel said that Iron Man 2 will be used to introduce Thor. Regarding more "Hulk" movies, Maisel said "We definitely plan on continuing." He added that development continues on Spider-Man 4. "I can't give any other updates other than to say it's in development and everybody's excited about 'Spider-Man 4,'" he said.

With that in mind, one can start expecting a lot more announcements in the coming months about creative teams and casting for those movies including who might direct the Captain America and Avengers movies. (Whomever plays Steve Rogers AKA Captain America presumably will be making two movies at once.)

Just as Downey’s character, Tony Stark, makes an appearance in next month’s “The Incredible Hulk,” the Hulk could turn up in “Iron Man 2,” Marvel Studios Chairman David Maisel said during a conference call to discuss the company’s earnings.

The live action JL may get changed to a CGI-blend with actors (a la Beowulf), and has hit several snags, including the writers strike. Australia has just turned them down for filming (they have a tax-incentive for filming, but denied it to JL) and the producers are now looking to move things to Canada. The studio's also hearing the loud negative feedback about the announced casting. Latest word is Joel Silver has (allegedly) declared the film "tabled"

There will be a Stark cameo in the movie (if it isn't cut out or replaced). It was already shown at the last New York comic con.

Here is a link to the article (Scroll down to "NYCC: Will The Avengers Assemble For A Film?"):

For those who are lazy here is the article with the relevant parts bolded.

NYCC: Will The Avengers Assemble For A Film?

If a film adapting the Marvel Comics superhero team The Avengers never comes about, it wouldn't be for lack of planning.

For the uninitiated, the Avengers is made up of several of Marvel's more popular characters, most of whom are currently being developed for their own solo pictures. The long term goal of Marvel is to establish the characters on their own before bringing them together for an Avengers film. To facilitate the notion that they all exist in a shared world, Marvel plans on planting little references to the other heroes in each others films.

During the panel for June's The Incredible Hulk at the New York Comic Con yesterday, fans got a glimpse of some of those cross-references.

In one of two scenes from the film that were screened for con attendees, Tim Roth's Emil Blonsky is seen being given injections of a chemical to boast his physical strength and agility, in order to track down and capture the Hulk. General Ross (John Hurt) explains this is a bioweapon leftover from an abandoned World War II project which tried to create a "Super Soldier Serum."

Any semi-literate comics fan can tell you that the Super Soldier Serum is what was used to transform the 98-pound weakling Steve Rodgers into the Nazi-smashing Captain America, who would subsequently be frozen and not revived until modern times. Marvel currently has a Captain America film in development.

When asked point blank by a fan if there was any truth to the persistent rumors that Samuel L. Jackson was going to appear in the Hulk film as spymaster Nick Fury or that Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. was going to cameo as Tony Stark, Feige remained elusive.

"I like when people are surprised in movies," he stated. "It doesn't happen very often any more. The truth is that there are some rumors you may have read about online that are not true, there are some rumors that are closer to true. You'll find out soon enough."

Fans didn’t know how soon Feige meant though. At the end of the panel, a new trailer for Incredible Hulk screened, followed by the questioned Robert Downey Jr./Tony Stark cameo. In the short scene, General Ross is in a bar, knocking back a drink, presumably after another failed attempt to capture the Hulk. Stark chides Ross over the problem he seems to be having with his bioweapon, stating he prefers mechanical weaponry. Ross, a bit drunk, compliments Stark on his suit. "You always have such nice suits."
