Question about the end: Spoiler What was Stark's purpose of saying he was Ironman at the end? Was that supposed to be taken as sarcasm to throw people off? If so why did all the reporters jump like little fat kids at a free candy convention?
That doesn't set up the sequel: Spoiler The part where Rhodey says 'next time' is more a setup for the sequel. The Nick Fury part sets up the potential for an Avengers movie. IMO that's even more exciting than a sequel.
Awesome! I am now pumped to see this as it was my favorite comic when I was younger. I still have them all.... Mandarin Saga, intro of War Machine etc.
By the way, I saw it at the German premiere in Berlin, and RDJ was pretty cool. I think Gwyneth got booed because she didn't give autographs when she walked down the red carpet (strangely, I didn't get booed even though I didn't give any either, walking it down a few minutes before her ). I don't know, but didn't Gwyneth have larger roles than this one before she went on her break? Seems like she got knocked down from top-tier status.
I think it went downhill after that crappy movie she was in where she portrays a stewardess. View From Above or something like that. What a crappy movie. I can't believe I wasted my time downloading that.

Snuck out and saw this movie during a long 'lunch break' today. Fantastic flick. What I was really surprised by was the acting. Top notch actors doing a fantastic job. The effects were seamless and not over the top. I'd say it's a must see, and possibly the best Marvel Comic movie so far, although I need to digest it for a while. The first Spider-man may be better. Some good trailers attached too...except...SEX IN THE CITY MOVIE?!? What demographic did they think was going to this movie? It wasn't a quick trailer, it was a full-on 2 minute women-only trailer that had jokes about waxing their legs and lots of wedding talk.
The sequel was set up nearly from the beginning when the terrorist organization was called the Ten Rings. I thought the movie was great, even though it suffered from the usual pitfalls of an origin story. I can't wait for the next installment, as well as an Avengers flick. Jon Favreau handled it beautifully, and I was glad he gave himself the role of Hap. The part that bothered me most was that Jarvis was made into a computer. Trying to get away from the Batman comparison, it seems like they fell right into the FF's HERBIE. Overall, I'd say this is the best comic book movie I have seen.
Just saw it. I thought this movie was great. Robert Downey played a very engaging protagonist considering his real life weaknesses. Everyone who wasn't into his casting... who would you have casted I wonder? Good luck. Paltrow finally did a fun popcorn movie that didn't suck. I'm sure she just either wanted to make a movie her kids could watch or she was offered an obscene amount of money. Probably both. I'm not sure why someone said something like "she is slipping in A-list stature"? Huh? She did a great job at playing the limited role she was given. Much better than a Katie Holmes or a Jennifer Connely. Often leading women become marginalized in these superhero movies. It's up to their talent to rise above the simplistic emotional concept of the movie. The only thing that can stop Iron Man is Newton's Laws Man. I didn't see one lick of inertia in this movie, but eh its a comic book movie. I'll let it slide. How much did Howard Hughes inspire Iron Man? Finally!!! A 'not terrible' excuse to put Stan Lee in every movie! Very funny!
I like that Marvel has LIMITS How strong is superman . .. VERY STRONG How strong is Martian Man hunder .. . Very Strong Stronger than Superman .. no . . Stronger than Aquaman . . yes How fast is Flash . .. VERY FAST . . . Then they have corny crap like. . The Flash taps into the SPEED FORCE . .. the fricking SPEED Force Marvel makes up its on psuedo physics . . . but it is interesting The Hulk is Class 100 . . able to routinely lift over 100 tons Spiderman is Class 10 . . .able to routinely lift 10 tons While it is all make beleive . .this actually gives you a mental BASE how just how much stronger the Hulk is to Spiderman Rocket River

I agree completely. Its why they don't need yearlong crossovers to fix their jacked up continuity. Of course, Marvel has crossovers every year for no reason other than to just make money. If I remember correctly, Iron Man is Class 100 when connected to an external power source.
So I wikid mandarin ... then found my way to spiderman + transformers ... and an hour later at world war hulk and his pregnant wife. there are WAAAAY too many characters flying around.
I just hope that the bald terrorist guy Spoiler doesn't become the Mandarin. I mean all the setup was there, he talked about wanting to be Genghis Khan, he was the head of the 10 Rings, he was always playing with a ring on his finger.
Dude, exactly what I thought too.. Spiderman comes in and cheats with Mandarin's wife, then Mandarin takes revenge but then Wolverine and Jubilee intervenes and has a little talk with Mandarin to calm him down, however the Hulk arrives and says he's ghey for Mandarin (not that there's anything wrong with that) and they join forces and suddenly iron man meets up with them and they all duke it out on Jerry Springer. It's like a super confusing Super Friends convention.
