My guess is that Scarlett Johansson is using the lawsuit to renegotiate her contract (since asking nicely likely did not do the trick)?
Would have been super interesting if Black Widow's story in the MCU wasn't done, or if Disney had more things they wanted to do with the Black Widow character, to see how Scarlett approached this situation. I wonder if she'd still speak out as fervently on this, knowing her story had more to go. I get that they can probably just cast Florence Pugh as the 'new' Black Widow or something, but maaan. Apparently, there's reports that Emma Stone (Cruella) and Emily Blunt (Jungle Cruise) are about to do the same thing to Disney that ScarJo is doing.
I hope she gets what she contractually/rightfully deserves though I can see Disney citing the pandemic as a just reason to do what they did (releasing it both on Disney+ and in theaters) because the longer they held onto the movie, the less profitable it would have become.
