Saw it. Had low expectations, but it wasn't bad at all. It's not a top tier MCU film but it's not bad. Yes, the basic story was predictable and therefore kinda lame, but I wasn't bored at any point.

It had too many attempted zingers. I don't know why Marvel insists on doing this. They must have some formula where they require a zinger every 10 lines or so. It's annoying and kinda takes me out of the movie.

Overall though, way better than the reviews had me believe.

I did have a genuine LOL moment when I first saw MODOK's face. It looked awful. But, I got used to it the more I saw it.

the only explanation is that these critics are out of touch weirdos who shouldn’t be taken seriously

Captain Marvel - 79% critic score

U mean to tell me Captain Marvel was in another league compared to this Ant-Man movie?

    Exactly. . . ..
They have agendas or just being straight cash

She-Hulk's love was inexplicable . . .other than kind of an inverse review bomb
That whole show was a big F*** U to comic book fans
Like VELMA is to Scooby Doo fans

Saw it today. Pretty cool. Idk how much juice is left in the Ant-man tank but Kang is unhinged. Honestly....
I thought they would kill Ant-man off. MODOK's death scene was genuinely hilarious.
Wifey and I were talking after, I think Thanos had a few appearances before you learned motives but geez, Kang is chaos.

Could somebody respond with a spoiler as to what are his motives?

As far as I can gather...
He wants to kill his variants (and their entire universes if that's what it takes) so "they don't get out of control". Right? He Who Remains from Loki season 1 was just the one that done did it. Loki/Sylvie killed HWR and opened the multiverse back up. Kang the Conqueror was unleashed but banished by other variants to the Quantum Realm. Enter Ant-team, who kills him...? I mean the best motive is the devil you know vs. the devil you don't. He's a despot. Every verse's version of Kang is a power hungry, desperate man who would destroy an entire universe if it meant he (that version) got the power.

Thanos was trying to kill half the universe to solve overpopulation. He went mad because of what happened to his people and thought that was an acceptable solution to the problem. He wanted a better life just went about it the wrong way.

    Kang just... wants to rule.

    Yeah, and that guy died.

Still don’t have a clear understanding of his end-game. I know he knows all about the timelines and how things are supposed to end… it’s still confusing to me as to what is his goal.

I knew what Thanos’ goal was. We usually know what the bad guy wants. Even in Loki, we knew what he wanted… just to be “done” with the tasks of managing the timeline.

But I’m definitely confused as to what all the variants were doing in the end credit scene other than just all getting together…. To do what?

Kang’s scene in Loki is most likely my favorite part of anything in Marvel. Thor’s battle with his sister was awesome as well.

Looking forward to seeing what they do with Kang’s character.

Kang’s goal is to be the ONLY Kang.

That’s what I thought too… then I saw this end credit scene and got more confused as to why they’re all working together?

Ant-Man"s Kang just wants to be the one Kang and conquer all others. The council of Kangs works together to control Kangs that are out of line but I would suspect they will eventually turn on each other once their collective goals are accomplished.

The following is semi-spoilerish but it's my theory based on being a comic nerd, stuff I've read and watching the MCU very closely.

The TVA's (from Loki) goal is to preserve the 'sacred timeline', which is really just Kang's goal to only have one timeline/dimension so he can rule the entire thing without competition. At the end of Loki the timelines started splitting like crazy because Sophie killed He Who Remains (the 'good' Kang). So you got what we saw in the Ant-Man 3 mid-credits scene because Kang is from the year 3000 and each timeline had the possibility of spawning a Kang. The entire Kang arc in the MCU will be the Kangs trying to take out the Avengers while backstabbing each other and trying to eliminate each other's origin timelines. It will all lead to Kang Dynasty which will probably tie up all but a few timelines, then Secret Wars which will tie all of the non-MCU timelines into the MCU and introduce the X-Men in a nice, neat bow. So all of the old-school Marvel film stuff, even the horrible Fantastic Four reboot from about 10 years ago, the Ben Affleck Daredevil and maybe even obscure stuff like the 1970's Japanese Spider-Man TV show, etc , will be 'cannon' as alternate realities.

Thanks. I heard HWR is the most powerful because he purged all the other timelines… but then he was ready to retire, correct? So while he did get things in order to where he was the only one, him turning over that power to Loki/Sophie at the end sorta goes against the possible aspiration of being all-powerful/multi-verse ruler.

I had no idea there was a council till antman 3. Look forward to them providing some more context/explanation. Just seems like a lot was glossed over with Kang from the end of Loki to his appearance here… but then again, they sorta did the same thing with Thanos (didn’t really reveal his true intentions and his “purpose” till the 2nd to last movie).

    This.

Just like with Thanos, his early appearances are more to say he's here and he's powerful.
