I am almost insulted by the idea!! How dare this even be a topic of disscussion......WTF does Dallas think we are
I have no qualms with trading Martin.. I'd actually prefer to move him for something valuable. That said, I'm not moving him for Haywood's contract that's still paying him big money five years from now. That's just not smart. I'd consider a Butler (expiring) and Beaubois offer. I'd probably try to get Dominique Jones in there, but Beaubois is the main piece for me that you do the deal for. This would get Martin's salary off our books (Butler's expiring), allow Courtney Lee to start (cheaper, younger, just as good of a spot up shooter, and MUCH better defender), and give us another valuable trading chip to move up in the draft with in Beaubois. That's the only deal I'd entertain for Martin from the Mavericks.
Cuban knows how to ruffle our feathers...He laughing his azz off right now reading these posts...........
Yeah... I'm not upset or anything... more flattered that it didn't look like a 'chop to him Personally, I don't put any stock in this. The Rockets need a shot-blocking center, but the benefit for the Rockets in moving Martin is unloading salary. Haywood signed a 6-year, $55 million deal ... he's guaranteed on the books until 2015. You never know, but I have a hard time seeing the Rockets go that route.
I'd do it if they included Beaubois. We'd not only get the center that we were looking for, we'd get our SG of the future. That kid can absolutely ball.
Not sure why everyone is getting upset. The key paragraph is bolded below. Plus, the salaries are far apart. If Stern gets his wish for a hard cap (and potentially no Bird Rights), the Mavs might be at risk of not being able to re-sign Chandler and Butler. I'd wait for that before any interest in Haywood. But...OK DAL...you want Martin? What else you putting on the table. We haven’t yet pieced together what might be on the table because we haven’t confirmed that there have been serious conversations. (Unlike what we know about Dallas’ pursuit of Carmelo Anthony, which – despite what folks in New York and New Jersey believe, and despite the probably pipe-dreamy nature of it – is very real
The trade in that article should be posted in the "Random Houston Rockets Trade Ideas" thread......that's how utterly ridiculous the proposition is. Clutch, how about you counter with a trade rumor of Chuck for Dirk and how it makes soooooooo much sense to both teams. Fuggin hate Dallas, so smug.
