Well sometimes you just have to role the dice, but I don't get that from Favor's at all. The kid to me comes off as a Derrick Rose type, in terms of personality. His shy and quiet, but also has this silent confidence about him and his ability. His a hard working kid who is just young and raw, who's far from a bust. So far from what I've seen he has shown no symptoms, that bust usually show(ex; poor work ethic, attitude, disinterested, etc). Of course many see his stats and think that his a bust for a #3 overall pick, but Favor's is a long term project. Even longer term than J-Hill, but his talent is undeniable. Athletically he is every bit of Blake Griffin's equal at only 19yrs old, but with superior size. If he could add some muscle to that frame he could become a beast, just based on physicality alone. Now imagine when he start to develop skills, on his already good fundamentals... His definitely has the talent to be the new foundation of our team long term... So I say his definitely worth a role of the dice..
The Nets only have 3 assets in my opinion. 1) Brook Lopez 2) 1st round draft picks 3) Derrick Favors If Morey can land one of them I'll be happy.
According to ESPN trade machine, the nets with Martin & Scola would improve by 16 wins! There is no way that we would trade both Martin & Scola to the nets, we do need to keep at least one of our top offensive guys to compete. I can't understand why so many posts hate on K-mart. He is one of the NBA's best scorers.
A Quote from espn "Favors, the youngest player in the NBA, still has skyscraping upside and is playing surprisingly efficient basketball despite his inexperience and the swirling cloud of rumors. In just more than 18 minutes per game, he's shooting 55.1 percent from the field while grabbing almost 16 percent of available rebounds. There has never been a teenage rookie in the history of the NBA who played up to that level. The closest? Some guy named Dwight Howard. Favors may never have the game-changing impact that Howard has, but that's a pretty solid start to hang your hat on. I know the Nets are impressed." He still has a long way to go but worth investing in. I think his potential and upside is literally ten times that of Hill.
The only hate is that he is nearly 28 yrs old and has a frail body. If we are rebuilding, we can preserve his value by trading him for a young star. You gotta trade players when they still have value.
stop lying, so many dif reasons for the hate. a thread for goodness sake was started about how they hate him trying to draw fouls how they hate his non defense even though its improved since the Kings day where he isnt the primary/only scorer shoot some even hated theat his bobblehead was thicker then IRL !
thething, I don't recall your stance on Amare and whether or not the Rockets should have done more to get him last year. But if this is your stance on Martin (which is fair), then you certainly have to be happy the Rockets aren't on the hook for 5 years, $100M to a guy like Stoudemire with an uninsurable knee that could give out at any moment. And Martin only makes HALF of what Amare makes.
My biggest issue with Kevin is the lack of defense, I honestly didn't think it would annoy me as much with the way he scores but dam he is garbage on the defensive end. He has improved slightly since his Sac-Town days but not much. When he scores at a high clip, it hides it a bit but still an eye sore for me. Saying all that, still better then watch Ariza throw up brick after brick.
Derrick Favors only gets 18 minutes a game? Maybe RA knows what he is doing, after all, giving his young players so few minutes.
My favorite player on the squad but pretty much the same as Kevin. I like his intensity and passion but the dude sucks at defense, it drives me insane. Same with Budinger, this is my problem with the way the team is constructed, they have very few two way players and it drives me nuts. Not saying we have to have 5 Chuck Hayes clones on the floor but I would like some defense played once in a blue moon. If both or one got traded and it was for a position of need(CENTER), I would be fine with it.
Question I asked Feigen, in his blog, about Lopez/Favors... Jonathan, Saw a tidbit in an ESPN chat about the Nets being interested in Martin and Scola. Do you think they would be willing to move Lopez or Favors along with one of their million #1 picks for those two and would Morey pull the trigger on such deal if offered? (They weren't willing to move Lopez for Melo so I wouldn't think they would for the Rockets. I don't know where Morey would stand on Lopez since he's been unavailable. I don't think he is that confident about Favors. If he thought he would become a Griffin, he'd be very aggressive. I don't think he feels that way. -- Jonathan) http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2011/01/bigger_shocker_rockets_shut_do.html
The Nets leaked this interest in our guys as a way to show they are already moving on and focusing on other trade targets. We aren't looking to rebuild and giving up those two would be just that. Spent a lot of time trying to get Martin, the only way he goes is if a "Morey deemed" superstar comes back in return.
The key is he thinks. He doesn't know and I suspect Morey would never tell him. It serves no purpose to let the media know you like a player you are trying to deal for. It would only jeopardize some of his leverage. Favors certainly fits the bill of a Morey type deal. Long term prospect with potential superstar talent. This kid is 19 and as someone stated earlier he is doing things Dwight Howardish. I personally believe the Nets and Morey are talking. Morey is probably asking the Nets are they offering the same deal they had on the table for Anthony and King is saying NO WAY that is why we walked away from that deal but we can give you some of that deal. ANd Morey is mulling it over.
