Well right now the Rockets aren't going anywhere with them. So trading them while their value is high I think is a great idea. Lol and theyre both scorers... Scoring = offense
Bima, we can extapolate and guess on what New Jersey's motives are or aren't........that is not interesting to me. I was just saying...hey....I would do this trade for...xxxxxx.... I would probably do it for Favors and a pick too.....but whatever.... The problem I have ATM, is that the Rox have too many wings and need to pick a direction....if they are going to rebuild, send Luis and Kmart away and get some young talent and some picks.... DD
If we could get just Lopez for luis and martin I would be in aw, especially considering the pick is probably going to high in the lottery. but you never know, i mean i dont know why NJ is blowing it up at all, there front court looks like it could dominate in the future.
You've obviously never seen Martin play. His go-to move is a drive, mid-range hard stop, throw a few pump fakes, draw contact, flail, and await free throws....
KEEP MARTIN!!! Sure he's got no clutch BUT let's keep Brooks too for that and steal Lopez; with his defense we wouldn't have to worry about losing late in the 4th!
And so many people were saying before the season that we don't need Melo or a superstar. Well, our GM thinks otherwise.
author makes it sound as if all it will take is favors and a couple first rounds. i don't think so buddy.
Different situation all together, they are getting 2 20ppg scorers.....instead of just one...... I think they may view a Martin + Scola deal as better than Melo alone deal. DD
Sorry, sir, Scola and Martin put no butts in seats, steal no identity from NYK in market. Melo does. Melo is worth much more to Nyets than his 25ppg, he is a S*T*A*R*!*!*!* If Jersey really were interested in either/both then it would be a dramatically less dramatic effect for their franchise.
Mostly from picks in an halfcourt offense...not because he's controlling the ball. He gets a lot of drives from his defender having to rotate to him...he's great at keeping his defender off balanced and making them react to what he's doing WITHOUT THE BALL... and when he does get the ball, it's a quick drive, or a quick pump-fake, or a shot. Transition offense is different... Where by the way Brooks is just as good...
Assuming this "report" carries any sort of validity (perhaps a big assumption), I'd be curious to see the foundation of any such deal if it involves us trading strictly with New Jersey. Let's not kid ourselves: Martin and Scola are above and beyond our best players. Without them, clearly the idea of us making the playoffs goes out the window. Consequently (and logically), any deal of this caliber has to involve us acquiring youth and other flexible assets to use down the line. From NJ's perspective, this type of trade serves the "win now" philosophy and seemingly makes sense. If they're able to deal for Scola/Martin while only giving up expirings/youth/picks that potentially gives them a Harris/Martin/Scola/Lopez main unit. Normally, that's probably good enough to make the playoffs in the East. Unfortunately, the Nets are 10-31 so the idea of them making the playoffs this year will still be very difficult. You would think they're better off pursuing Melo (and if/when that fails) then finishing out the season and getting yet another top five draft pick. For that reason, I'm not buying any big deal involving ONLY Houston and New Jersey. There's just not enough upside involved in this type of deal for NJ and they can't be blind enough to not see that.
Those two guys will cost them Lopez and a high draft pick either this year or the next or Favors. I can see Morey doing it, realizing that a superstar is nowhere in sight so building one maybe the best way to go by it.
They want to be good when they move to Brooklyn in 2 years, both KMart and Scola will still be very good then. DD
Actually, I think they might be thinking they could do the trade without including Lopez or Favors. I don't understand why the Nets -- who are rebuilding just like we are -- would give away the young building blocks they do have to pick up a couple of veterans who may be good but are no superstars. It would be stupid of them to do so. If you want to pick up a young high-potential guy, see if any contenders have something. Contenders want seasoned vets, rebuilding teams do not.
