I have tickets to see Poppy (with geriatric hangers-on Smashing Pumpkins and Jane's Addiction) next month.
Throwing Keystone Light beer cans a quarter-full of dip spit and Marlboro light butts at all the ******* ******* walking on the sidewalk
When people discuss influences for Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica etc, bands such as Judas Priest Black Sabbath Led Zeppelin Scorpions AC/DC Van Halen Etc comes up and I am good with them. Then Motorhead also gets mentioned and I struggle with that jump via Motorhead. I realize that some people really love Motorhead, but I am indifferent. I don't know if Motorhead influenced Ministry at all, but they do fall into the same category of not grabbing me. Some of the bands recently mentioned such as The Smiths Club bands mentioned in this thread and the other thread appear to have some influences from various combinations of David Bowie, Genesis, The Sweet, Alice Cooper and other Glam Rock types. Not exactly the same type of music, but definitely different than the metal bands listed earlier. I don't listen to it on a regular basis, but I am okay with it.
Dude I actually just watched that Sweet video I posted and I can smell the cocaine through my computer screen. Your video's so much better. You win, this round.
Earlier, you mentioned Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica etc. Do you have Quiet Riot belonging with that group or belonging more with Ratt, Poison, Twisted Sister etc?
You need to differentiate 80's metal from 80's hair-metal. QR is in the former, the rest in the latter. Also, can you name the greatest song ever that sampled "Ballroom Blitz"?
I ain't got time for charts and graphs About the 3 minute mark, but start it at 2 or from the get-go: It's an obvious answer because they sampled EVERYONE on that album. Look at the list of credits [eta: for Paul's Boutique] someday, it's awesome and will turn you onto songs you totally forgot about.
Yes, they are listed as having sampled it. I gave the link rather than try to project myself as a genius. I know my limitations. It is at the top of the list. Those that did covers are listed below that.
I just looked and they don't discriminate, they sample from many. I didn't know what to pick from their catalog. So grabbed this.
It's funny, when that album came out nobody really knew what to think of it. Everyone was expecting stuff like on License To Ill, but this was totally different. I/we/all of us loved it so much, brilliant album to be driving around with the radio up and windows down, teenage years Then they came back with Check Your Head, and everyone kinda decided that, "yeah, we do really like these guys"
Good Deal. I need to check on Ukraine - Russia stuff, so I will find the Exit for the night in this thread.
