He came up as an infielder, SS then moved to 3rd as he got bigger. Only been playing OF since last year, he's a hell of an athlete.

    Fudge.

I hate innings like this. A bunch of punch-n-judy hits and it produces an insurance run. Grrrrrr.

As Biggio has said, "that's baseball."

We clobber the ball in the bottom half of the last inning, and get one run.

They hit dinkers over the 3b, and get runs. And don't tell me "speed kills" - that only explains why they got a run instead of just 2 guys on base, not why the ball dropped in the first place :(.

This game has had disappointing less all over it ever since the second Lowell homer.

I'd love to be wrong, though. Strange how you get "feelings" about games. Last night, I just "knew" that the Astros were going to break through somehow, even though they'd shown even less sign of it.

    Why can't we do that?

    5-2 Fishies. HR by Codine.

This reminds me of last night. A close game, well pitched until late in the game where the bullpen gave the game away. It's happening right now. Double by Gonzalez....CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP.

Everett did in the 1st... but you're right. It always seems that the opponents get the cheap Crawford shots more than the Astros.

When the Astros hit em out, they rock them.

Ricky doesn't have good stuff... he's done.

Really, 0-2 pitch to a highly mediocre hitter. Homer

    Bleh.

We've been "challeing" hitters too much on 0-2 and 1-2 all year, with the exception of Clemens and Pettite. I don't know if it was in the pre-season teaching... or if they've just summarily decided to do so... but they're giving hitters way too much to swing at when ahead in the count.

    Maybe it's just poor location.

I wonder how much Stone is paying the announce crew. They keep talking about how good a job he has done this season. Maybe it is just me but it sems like every time he pitches he gives up runs and gets shelled. Memo to Jimy and Gerry: "Please send Stoned back to N.O. and call up, hmmm... well anyone!" as i said in chat. I wish that guy throwing the HR ball back in would have thrown it at him and put us out of our misery.

    Woohoo!!!

A KoKo sighting. The pain of watching Willis pitch is now worth it.

Worrell: "KoKo is like the Maytag Repair Man".

    I smell a cult following.........................

Ricky Stone is one of the many, many, many relievers out there who is marginally valuable in their good years, and a slight liability in their bad years. They don't have good stuff, really, but because of limited opportunities, sample size, and dumb luck... appear to some years... but also seem worse than they are in others.

He's not pitching well right now. Since we have other options, I do not quite understand why he's getting the consideration that he does.

    Don't mock me.

    I was being serious.

I was in a bad mood because its been a rough day and we are losing and just watching Brandon have a chance to pitch .....well ....i feel alot better.

I am going to send an email to him and suggest he change his number to "00".

Hopefully, Jimy hasn't started calling him "Gammy" yet.

Did Worrell actually call him KoKo? Surely he doesn't read this board. We do nothing but bash him all the time.

This is getting obsurd. Where's the middle of our order? With the excpetion of last nights 7th and 8th inning rally, we cant put together any good innings. The middle of our order is not giving us anything. Our leadoff man leads the team in HRs and our 7 spot (Ensberg) in the order has been the one driving in most of the runs lately. I hope Hidalgo breaks out of this slump soon. His average is dropping fast. I'm sure glad this team has the pitching staff it does because it really picks up this team when the bats are silent.
