agreed...but there are really few cities they're like that. went to fenway last season, and i can't imagine the fans are that passionate anywhere else in the country. even yankee fans don't get that way till playoff time.
It's may and the season still has 4 months to go. But Roger isn't really surprising me, he is in the easier league to pitch for the 1st time so all his AL experience only has made him a better pitcher. Still even though I love Barry Bonds as a player, I love rewinding my tape on the VCR and watch clemens strike him out twice, especially the one in the 7th. That was awesome, probably the best moment of the season to date for me.
Perhaps they will be sometime in the near future when the rest of the city realizes that we really have something special going on this year. It is like with the new additions this year that the city is coming back to life. The place is so loud at times.
I'm not saying they need to be on their feet for a majority of the game, but getting off your cellphone, turning around and actually watching a game, not telling me to be quiet or sit down during a crucial situation, and cheering even when not prompted by the organ music or scoreboard is not too much to ask. I will say that the crowds have been much more electric this year, even in the field boxes. Stros are 7th in the league in attendance (36.2), on pace to draw 2.93M
I think a better stat for attendance is % full we're 5th in that respect (88.6%) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/attendance?sort=home_pct&year=2004&seasonType=2
This ump is nuts! Anyone watching? He calls the strikes so loud and holds his pose. STTTRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKEEEEE!
Miller taken out in the 6th due to an injury... looks like either a pinched nerve near his neck area, or a shoulder strain of some kind.... Remember... injuries are the only thing that can stop this steamrolling team... edit: they said it was "neck tightness" so at least it doesn't involve his shoulder, elbow or groin... the three worst places for a pitcher to get hurt.
I was just going by what the announcers said... I assume they got the info from the Astros trainers themselves on the neck stiffness.
Berkamn grounds out, but we get a run out of it. Down by 1 with runners on 2nd and 3rd with a hot Ensberg due up!!!
Willis reminds me of Jose Lima. One of those guys who you would love if hes on your team, but can't stand if hes not.
We definetly should have gotten more out of that inning. Oh well. Time for the 7th inning. The 7th inning is where we do our big hitting, lets to Astros!
This sucks. I actually don't think Willis is pitching very well at all. He's thrown up some fat ones, which haven't been properly punished... and he'd have several walks if it weren't for that ump's WIDE! strike zone on the outside corner. We've also hit some balls well that haven't worked out as well as could be hoped. Cabrera doesn't have a good defensive reputation at all, but you wouldn't know it from this series. This will be a disappointing game to lose, if we do.
