I bet Dan Gilbert wrote an angry letter to adidas saying if they let it happen they are destroying professional basketball.....
Actually, what KD did is VERY noteworthy, and completely different from what LeBron and Dwight did. While the terms of Rose's extension haven't come out, KD signed a 5-year maximum extension with no early termination options. LeBron, Wade and Bosh all signed 3 year deals with player options for the 4th year. Howard, Paul, Amare, Yao, and Carmelo all signed 4 year deals with player options for the 5th year. By agreeing to less than the maximum, LeBron pretty much signaled to every other free agent that he wasn't going to be in it for the long haul with Cleveland, and likely hurt their free agent recruiting pitches substantially. KD has committed to the Zombie Sonics for 9 years. He didn't have to give up his player option on the last year; something that gives him both security and the ability to really dictate where he wants to go; instead, he committed to the team, something that will likely influence Westbrook, Ibaka and Harden going forward.
Who cares? So many self-righteous people on this website thinking they know what is the honorable and acceptable thing to do. It's ridiculous how many arm-chair NBA players we have here. Good for KD that he did what he did. That doesn't make him a better player or a better person. I don't think it really changes anything.. Just his decision, good for him.
