It looks like we'll be the Houston Knicks very soon. Seriously, this is a good pick up for the Rockets where Jackson can provide some leadership and ball distribution. I think a solid 8 to 12 minutes per game is not that unrealistic to expect. However, we'll have to expect some defense let down, and even slower tempo games with Jackson. Mark has never been very quick, or a good defender even in his best days. QUIZ of the Day, Mark Jackson was, 1). ROY 2). #1 Draft Pick 3). Both 4). Neither --daoshi
All this point guard stuff makes me wish we would have never let go of Sam I am... I know I know hindsight is 20/20 but damnit why have we insited on letting go of our athletes and runners... Robert Horry Sam Cassell Shandon Anderson James Posey who else?
Haha, yeah. I know it's pretty irrelevant overall, but the way he played the last few seasons just annoyed me. We have much greater problems than who's our back-up point guard, so it's funny seeing people caring so much.
As long as there is no long term(beyond this season) commitment, I'm all for it. At 38, I'm sure he's still better than Wilks and have no doubt that he's better than Moochie.
So, what about the New York Rockets, featuring Othella my fella, Shandn Andersn, and the amazing Mooch!
Mark Jackson is one of the biggest losers in NBA history. The guy has driven nuts the fans everywhere he played. He is a circus-player, a lot flashier than Steve, he tries all kinds of no-look and other fancy passes that when they work look spectacular, but generally result in a bunch of turnovers. His feet were so slow it looked like he was playing in molasses and that was in his prime, now he is likely to look like playing in lead boots all the time. He has zero intensity, zero discipline, zero defense and one of the ugliest and most unreliable set-shots that you can think of. He is basically a clown. We wouldn't have have to sign him if the cheap b*stard Leslie Alexander did not allowed to be outbid for Antonio Daniels and Kevin Ollie. I saw both players yesterday in the Cle-Sea game, those are legitimate NBA backups. Mark Jakson at this point is a joke.
If Mark Jackson is picked up it will surely help guys who have stuggled with their shooting so far with this team like Piakowski and Jim Jackson. Its not just being unselfish, but having the ability and experience to pass the ball to players in the right spots.
JVG will pick up Chaney as an Assistant and Patrick will get a head coaching job of the................ JVG will get fired, Chaney will get the head coaching job and bring on Rudy as an assistant.... muahahahahha......
At this point I don't think Francis will listen to anyone - if he does he'll forget it for long stretches of the game. He's got a max contract, and he *knows* he's an All Star point guard, all those other Western Conference point guards suck by his standard.
Imagine teams trying to double team Mark Jackson off the screen and roll with Yao Ming. No more trying to split the double team and losing the ball...nope....simply watch Jackson deftly pass it to Ming for the easy 2..... Oh man...tingles. DD
I still haven't got over all those stupid shoulder shimmies Jackson did during that first round playoff series against the Rockets, when he was with the Clips. They took us to five games, so I got to see one shimmy too many.
I'm glad of this pickup...even though it hasn't officially happened yet. I guess that's all I have to add.
[dreaming] Mark Jackson is brought in to groom our PG of the future. In the meantime we have play said PG with MJ as his backup because ... ... we trade Steve to the Bulls for Chandler, Hinrich, and Eddie Robinson. We get really lucky and Robinson somehow becomes a starting quality SF, or worst case scenario we just leave the SF spot to JJ. [/dreaming]
GATER: "[Signing Mark Jackson] gives us potentially 3 good post entry passers on the floor at one time (JJax, Taylor, MJax)" Padgett did pretty well passing inside the other night, didn't he?
