Was I the only one who felt REALLY AKWARD during the Utah vs. Spurs series, where JVG was the commentator? I could only imagine how akward it was for him (I mean the IRONY!). I laughed (akwardly) when he said mentioned how Kirilenko can "beat" his "team," during one of the games against the Spurs. I forgot what he said exactly but it was a weird moment, and I kinda felt sorry for him.

On a side note, he's actually my favorite ESPN basketball commentator.

Better than Bill Walton? I'd love to see JVG with Mike Tirico (Orangeman) and Bill Walton. THat would make a great team.

But yeah, it was really awkward, he calling that series. I remember Kirilenko hit a big shot for Utah from the similar spot he hit his only 3 against us in game 7, and JVG said something like "Kirilenko hit a 3 vs the Houston ROckets in game 7 from virtually the same spot earlier in Round 1 of the this years playoffs."

But he did a great job of analyzing Utah that series, he even called out many of their offensive and inbounds plays, and broke down why they would eventually lose the series to the more experienced spurs.

JVG and bill walton...that would be funny. Funny as in JVG calling bill on all his b.s.

as for the avery being better than jvg. Hardly. Avery had a 60 win team handed to him and an unlimited amount of money to spend. He's a good coach, but overrated thus far in his career.

One of my all-time favorite Cuban quotes on Yao Ming:

    "Overrated"

Praise from our arch enemy is to be considered with suspicion, especially from a man like Cuban. He is trying to make us over confident! From what went on last night I would say we have along road ahead of us. :p

What association are you trying to make? Many people are mormons, what do they have to do with thinking about the Rockets ?

i am sorry but he just had more talent than most teams did the past couple of years and that has really helped him. he got exposed in the GS series which they should have won...forget the whole they have don nelson as the coach. nelson coached the team nearly 3 seasons before and i had thought the team changed the way it played since avery took over. it didnt even look like avery made changes from game to game in that series and looked totally lost...that is not a sign of a good coach.

heck if it wasnt for repeated bad calls in the rockets series a few seasons ago there probably wouldnt have been a game 7.

Anything Mark Cuban says is stupid and gay. I would be happy if he would just step in front of a speeding train instead of giving us the Cuban curse by talking about us.

We probably will win 67 games this year then lose to the Sonics or some sh*tty team in the playoffs.

very true. He has a talent loaded team and thats how they won. Really, if you watch the mavs they tend to ultimately end up creating their own shots on an individual basis

yeah, talent and injuries have nothing to do with that.

I think Cuban's assertment that the coach is "the most underrated position" is bogus for two reasons. One, anyone knows anything about basketball knows that a good coach can overcome a bad team so only a moron like Cuban would underrate the head coach spot. Conversely, it could be argued that it is the most overrated position, with Avery in case. The Mavericks have won under Avery because they have had great bench play, and the emergences ofJosh Howard and Devin Harris to compliment Dirk. If Avery was a bad coach, he would have been exposed, so I am not saying that he is hiding behind the talent, but how much credit can you give the guy on the sidelines when the Mavs offense tends to break down more than other systems and result in player-created shots.

It's not news that we are improved, and I think if Cuban is admitting it, then that is fair proof that the whole league recognizes it, and we should be ready. Cuban is a businessman, not a sportsman, and is not one to be humble about an opponent, or losing.

As much as we all love Radleman, I wish my ringtone was Avery saying "Desagana". Man, that is one hell of an accent.

Dirk and Josh Howard over T-Mac and Yao? Yeah, those guys are sure to get us over the hump, they never choke during the playoffs! Oh, wait.

    2-0 + 67-15 = #0.

    4-1 + 4-3 + 4-1 + 4-3 = #1

    3-2 + 4-3 + 4-2 + 4-0 = #1
