I didn't think that Cuban's apology was insincere. Maybe I give him too much credit. But, when he talked to Martin's mom, he had just been robbed of the Game 3 victory by bad officiating and was probably too worked up. He then got to see the fallout with people following his lead and threatening and harassing family members of the opposing team. And, he got to anticipating what the payback will be in complaints from David Stern about inadequate security and in retribution from Nuggets fans in Denver (which he will conveniently be skipping). I'm sure he came to genuinely regret his remarks.
first of all, I think you need to back track on connecting what richards and gibson said and equating it to telling the truth. i hope you didn't mean to infer that, i'm going to assume you didn't secondly, the apology is to kenyon's mom, he shouldn't be talking to her like that, period.
An Apology to Kenyon Martin’s Mom May 12th 2009 1:34AM It started as a smart ass comment that I know that no one heard. How do I know, because there was a reporter right there next to me, as well as other people who saw the whole thing and didnt hear a word of it. But at this point, that has become irrelevant. It doesnt matter why I said it. I shouldn’t have said anything. Now, the reality is that this has gotten out of hand. When tempers and such start impacting the fan experience both in Dallas and Denver, and it requires special security, thats not what I want for Mavs or Nuggets fans. No one takes more abuse and gets more threats on the road than I do. So I know exactly how it feels. I’ve also had my family and friends spit on at games in this series. So I know how unpleasant that is as well. It’s a dirty secret that all arenas need to do a better job of protection for visiting team fans, particularly during the playoffs. So at this point I would like to apologize to you and your mom KMart for my comment. I should have not said anything and I was wrong. Hopefully you will accept the apology and we can move on. When the series comes back to Dallas, your family, and the family of other Nuggets players are welcome to stay in my suite, with my family. Its amazing how tempers mellow when real people talk to each other and realize that its still just a game. If that isn’t acceptable, I’m happy to provide a suite, free of charge to them as well and place whatever security is needed to make them feel comfortable. We tried to have enough additional security for them tonight as well, but I know your family and friends didn’t feel as comfortable as they should. I apologize for that as well. This arena is my responsibility, we could and should do a better job. So if we can put this behind us, I will make sure when the series comes back to Dallas, your family and friends, and that of your teammates are very comfortable at our Arena. This is the second time I've seen this here, so it's bugging me a little. Inferring is when you make a conclusion based on inconclusive evidence. RHostetler82 implied that Richards and Gibson were speaking the truth. You inferred that he felt that Richard and Gibson spoke the truth.

Smh @ Dallas fans pouring beer on Martin's mom and doing something to LaLa(Carmelo's fiance) last night to the point where she had to be escorted out, I think they threw stuff at her. Seriously basketball is not that serious, well sports in general is not that serious to the point of messing with players family members. Just enjoy the game
No kidding. I can't imagine getting that riled up. There is a major failure from security to the fans to allow this to happen. Fellow fans should police this BS.
I think alcohol is the cause for some of it, because some people can't control themselves when they drink too much at these games. The fans doing all this while sober are just ignorant though. And yeah Security shouldn't allow this to happen especially with the tension going on in the Cuban/Martin's mom situation. Fellow fans could help but I think if someone spoke up then a bunch of people would just gang up and attack that person verbally and physically too.
You're on the right track here... the truth is "all of the above". Cuban is an unfiltered idiot KMart and his mom are trashy Dallas fans are drunk and obnoxious KMart and Cuban (especially Cuban) should know better The one factor in here that could fix all this is Cuban. He just needs to stop participating in games and public debates. Refs should assess technical fouls on him just like they do the coaches and Stern should fine him afterwards and ban those fans from attending future NBA games. On another note... the Cuban vs. Martin throw down. Newsflash - a 200 pound professional athlete would kill a 200 pound civilian. Kenyon Martin is an NBA player because he is fast, coordinated, and strong. Add to that he outweighs Cuban by 50 pounds, and has probably seen MANY fights whereas Cuban may have had a few bar room tussles at most. Martin would annihilate Cuban without even trying.
