    Deuce -
I obviously can't prove it. But I'd believe Wells' agent brought up a verbal no trade provision. Wells even with last years' terrible season could still get his Rockets' option of $2.3m on the open market. (The majority of astute fans here even recognize the value of this inexpensive addition).

In the open market, Wells controls where he goes. In a Rockets' trade, he could windup on a dreadful EC team. Again, I can't prove it but I have to feel Duffy brought up the fact Wells came back to play with a winner and wanted some verbal clue(s) that Wells wasn't brought back for trade purposes. If Duffy is ANY sort of quality agent, he had to bring this up.

McDyess is getting up there in years, not sure he could hold up to starters minutes.

I was kind of hoping the Rockets would do an old and a new combo at PF....

Something like sign PJ Brown and Amir Johnson......where you have the old veteran and the young buck........at the same time.

after tmac saying that all they have at the 4 is hayes, and morey saying that they would like to add a 4 who's skillset differentiates from that of hayes, i would assume that hayes will be back in the rotation next season.

while i like the idea of adding a vet to play ahead of hayes (pj brown would be great), i like the idea of adding someone who can get up and down the floor and finish at the rim (something the team lacks).

I cant imagine the Rox would promise any kind of no trade provision, especially since Bonzi could be very attractive come trade deadline time. More importantly, although Im sure Bonzi wants to win, it is probably more important he get playing time and has a good season. Whether he finishes it with the Rox or even a crappy EC team, he is playing for his next contract. Say he ends up on the Celtics, and they suck but he finishes the last month averaging 18 and 7. Long term that probably benefits him more, at least financially.

This team just keeps getting better and better.

But this is only a good addition if Bonzi comes to camp in shape. He needs to earn another big contract so I'm pretty sure he will.

A far as trading hi at some point I am for whatever helps the team out most. There is no loyalty with me as far as Bonzi is concerned - business first.

After shooting himself in the foot on his big contract the healing is complete and he will get all he has to offer since he is playing for his next contract. If we get this then we might not want to trade him - especially becasue we are in the west and the Spurs are still at the top for us to knock off.

Hopefully we find the PF we need to mesh this team together this offseason. That seems to be the only piece left to fill.

Last year Bonzi was recovering from a severe groin groin injury and this team in JVG's eyes didn't have much margin for error.Coach did the same thing to Spanoulis.

I see Bonzi playing for his last contract,a title, under Adelman, and finally being healthy.

We'll get a monster year out of him.

Well, having Adelman on board gives me some hope that Bonzi can contribute this year. Besides, at the price he's signed for, it's a bargain even if he only plays 15 solid minutes a game and it doesn't kill us if he ends up being a no show again.

I agree with this...even if he is not in SA mode, but just similar to what he has been throughout his career and most recently in Sactown. If he is that, he should be our 2 and McGrady can go back to 3. Battier can be our 2-4 (but limited at the 4) hustle sub. With James, Bonzi, TMac, and Yao Ming as starters that is a lot of offensive flexibility and would seem to be a good fit for an offense that moves around. Defense suffers a bit (although James being better than Alston helps) but I like the idea of Battier being more of a floater sub.

If you stand around in the circa 1950's offense you're gonna get smothered. Motion Offense Baby!!

EXACTLY! People think he will work his ass of to get that next contract. Isnt that what was supposed to happen last year? I know I know it was VanGundys fault. Truth was he was pissed that he had to play for such a low amount. He pouted about it and didnt try. If he would of worked his ass off and did what everyone thought he was going to do, there is ni way Gundy could of kept him out of the lineup. He is too talented to sit on the bench if he is ready to play.

I hope he proves me wrong but I just dont see it happening. :(

I am just having a hard time to figure out how the minutes can be distributed at PG, SG and SF position. Here is my stab at it. At the end, how can you find time for the young players:Vspan, Novak, Snyder, Head? Are they out of rotation then?

    TMac 35 min
Shane 20 min (10 min at PF)
    Bonzi 30 min
    James 25 min
    Alston 25 min

    Vspan ? min
    Head ? min
    Snyder ? min
    Novak ? min

I dont know what we can get out of bonzi but last year was just a meeting of two really stubborn heads.

on bonzi side he and his agent made a huge mistake and he was clearly upset and emotional over it and came into camp overweight. i do like JVG philosophy of treating everyone the same and accounting. Bonzi did what he could and came back in shape, there was that stretch when mac went out that bonzi started to play pretty well for the team. i think the issue arises because it seems that JVG can manage players of a certain type. Towards the end of the season i think it was quite clear that jvg would play bonzi very limited if any minutes. It was quite clear that most of the players, esp tmac wanted/wants bonzi back, I think adelman will give bonzi a bit more freedom.

is he going to have a break-out season? probably not but if he can provided the team a 12-15ppg and 4-6 boards then he will be a tremendous assest to the team

This is very good news, this offseason we have added two proven scorers, and some rebounding with Bonzi, and we haven't given up any trade assets or spent any $$$$$$$. We still have the whole MLE, plus the draft pick, plus Rafer, Luther and Battier and V-Span as trade bait to maybe get a PF.

There's probably not much upside either...but that's not the point.
